John L Smith

when and if a change is made, Smith would be a good choice. Yes things didn't turn out well for him in East Lansing, but his record overall there was about like Nick Saban's. No way Bobby Petrino could've done what he's done at Louisville had it not been for John L. Maybe he has some Texas connections, maybe he doesn't, but look at his career credentials : Ws and Ls , even including MSU...what he accomplished at Louisville, what his offenses did.

Some stats: .605 career winning pct, even after 4 below 500 at MSU; 12th among active coaches in wins; purveyor of the spread offense (fits our personnel). One of 18 coaches to take 3 teams to a Bowl game. One time Big 10 coach of the year. 41-21 record at Louisville, with 5 straight bowl appearances, and back-to-back CUSA championships.

Now that I've thrown a name out there, perhaps Orsini says "I like you PB, and I know you're a good defensive guy...lose the OC you have now, and you can stick around..."

PB stays for now. He has too much here to just throw it all away and start from scratch. They need to can the coordinators and figure out how to complete an entire game of football.
