Orsini Cowboy Connection

Charlie Waters has finished runner-up in last two SMU Head Coach hires. Maybe it's time to give him the job. Coaching staff full of ex-cowboys would be kinda cool and attract recruits. Hell, I don't know. Just shoot me.

Good god no. He has no head coaching experience, and he's not a Steve-O type. Besides: keep Coach Bennett.

Thank you Ponyfan!! And Waters is a bumbling idiot!! No understanding of the game in general, just like Orsini!! Never played. PB is the guy, he just needs some help, talent help and coaching help. Burns does need to go. So does the offensive coor. at Tulsa. You know they are cut from the same cloth, but the defences have caught up to their schematics. We need Ramone F. as OC and PB needs to take over the Defense and put Gush in the Box upstairs. Tumpkins can signal the defenses.

Interesting: what do you like about Ramon Flanigan? I loved watching him play, but what do we know about him as a coach? (I do think he's supposed to be a fine recruiter, and if he could say "come play for MY school," instead of just his employer, his recruiting prowess might even go up.

I think you're dead-on about Coach Gush, Coach Bennett and Coach Tumpkin. But isn't Tumpkin already signaling the defense? I thought that's why he wears the white gloves on the sideline.

Here is a little history for you [deleted] who think they have some knowledge about the game. The spread was started at BYU with BYUs only national cahmpionship with (I cannot remember the QB). The OC at Tulsa was there at BYU and Burns tutored under him not to long after that and so did Leach (Texas Tech). Burns has not progressed with his schematics, but the defenses have caught up. We need youth on the field and in the coaching ranks.

Uh..I'm pretty sure Waters played - just for the record.

Our OC being gone is the one thing that is for sure - question is how much of the rest of the cast goes.

Check your history, [deleted]. Waters played for a little team known as The Dallas Cowboys.

LOL Bigmomma Orsini was the starting FB and captain on a national championship team at Notre Dame. My guess is the guy probably has some understanding of the game.

Oh, and the QB at BYU was Robbie Boscoe. Probably more importantly, their offensive coordinator was Norm Chow. They beat Michigan in the Holiday Bowl and were labeled national champs. Good to know you're a student of the game.

Pretty sure that my 1977 Notre Dame media guide lists Steve O as the Captain of the team. You might also look at previous posts that actually list his career achievements at ND before you start claiming he never played. Next time you see him, ask him to show you his National Championship ring from not playing at ND.
