Dukie, this is 2006. Players can play wherever they want to. J-Will is a redshirt freshman who just turned 19 I believe Aug. 6th. Very young player and possibly immature like most of the players on the team. Average age to start thinking like an adult is 28 years of age. Do not read too much into the transfer thing, the KID wants to win games with the MAN that came into his home and recruited him. They have a five year date, win or loose. Does any of you know what committment ans loyalty is?

Can someone name me any decent I-A schools where Willis could sit out a year and play the remaining 2 years of his eligibilty???

Willis is not that stoopid to lose a year and try to win a starting job somewhere else.

just b/c he sits out a year doesn't mean he loses a yr of elgibility... IF he were to follow his word should bennett be fired, he would sit out a yr and have three more yrs to play..

WRONG....he is a redshirt freshman, therefore by transfering to another I-A school he would be forced to sit out, and lose his sophomore year of eligibilty...

Therefore giving him TWO years left, R-Jr and R-Sr.

I appreciate the response, but maybe you want to address the points I actually made. Do you think that the end of yesterday's game represents a good or even passable effort at a 2-minute drill? Do you think it is not a problem when a player (and that player's parent) repeatedly make transfer threats in the press?

it doesn't have anything to do with his redshirt year. Willis would lose a year if he wants to transfer to ANY Division 1A school whether he redshirted or not. But it is correct he will only have 2 years left if he does transfer.

No threats Duke just a player looking out for his future. Tell me about the future of SMU football the last 22 years. We are on the right track with PB, if not the future looks dark. How do you run a 2-minute drill when 5 linemen cannot block 3 rushing defenders, and that puts 8 defenders in coverage, covering only three receivers we throw the ball to and one of them was hurt. Blake Warren not used, Zack Sledge not used???

I pointed that out in a diff thread. However, Orsini is no bum AD and knows the possible effect on a coaching change....Orisini calls the shots in the end and he knows what's best for this program, fans, and JW....

Politics, Politics. Orsini cannot do anything that has not been done. He has 22 years of [deleted] to correct and that is impossibile. Let me tell you how simple it is! Direct your attention towards the progress of winning games without paying players. Orsini has nothing to do with that. He does not recruit, nor do we need him to. Nobody knows who the hell he is?? Find a recruiter, wow PB, and lets move on. Give PB all the institutional control he needs to get the job done and everybody else get the fu*k out of the way and let him do his thing. Let me tell you one thing it takes to run a good program since you see to know nothing about a possible coaching change.

Let me tell you what gets us out of the hole after 22 years, CONSISTENCY...that is something PB has not been able to do....he had no consistency but to lose the 0-12 year and for the past 3 years it has been up and down, win and lose....

I'm not saying out right that PB should be canned but I think that a change somewhere could be good. Some where in PBs schemes on the O or D side of the ball, something needs to change.

SMU needs to start being consistent for this program to come out of the whole. We were 1 win away from an actually bowl game and a lot of us are pissed. Baby Steps are not want this program needs. We definitely need players threatening to leave if there needs aren't met.

This isn't grade school are a bank robbery gone bad...the coach or someone higher up calls the shots, not the players.
