Head coach at Navy. I'm not saying I want Bennett to be fired, but if he is, what do you think about Paul Johnson as the next SMU head coach?

You had to remind us all of the Navy game, in which two new coaching regimes began their respective campaigns. Anyone have the five year stats at their disposal?

Paul Johnson is 28-21 at Navy. Bowl games in 4 out of 5 seasons. First year was 2-10. Since then, they win about 7 or 8 games a year, except for one 10-2 season.

Thanks, Wikipedia.

Pretty successful especially considering where Navy was when he took over.

ND and Navy play every year...after each game, ND players sing the Naval Academy alma mater and vice-versa

Johnson would be the ideal hire. SMU could pay him more than Navy for sure, but Johnson might view the SMU job as a lateral move or a step down from Navy with more negatives than plus'.

Orsini worked at Navy as well. Just to help you conspiracy theorists.

1) He's winning at freakin' Navy!!!
2) If he can get recruits that qualify at Annapolis, he can find recruits that qualify at SMU
3) Run-first offense will work great with DeMyron, Mapps, and Willis who has decent speed at the QB position.

Here comes Patented Stallion Rant #7: Academies have built in recruiting advantages because they have prep schools.
