Orsini should seriously look at Barnett if he lets Bennett go, although I'm not opposed to giving Bennett one more season. But if the guy can't win with this year's weak [deleted] schedule then the prospects for a bowl next season don't look good.

I don't know if Barnett is interested in getting back into coaching but the guy won at friggin Northwestern .....and won big.

He also got a lot of players from TX to go to Colorado.

Before he showed up, Northwestern was one of those places coaching careers came to die.

One plus in my mind is that you know Barnett will not run shotgun plays on goal line. He's a big proponent of the power running game.

I actually talked to a buddy about this last night.

Barnett is exactly Orsini's kind of hire. Big splash name, has a little dirt on him but ready for some rehab.

What he did at NW is really indicative of what he could do at SMU. Very similar schools in a lot of ways.

I know some of you guys will say NW is in the Big 10 yada yada...and you can recruit using the prospect of playing Michigan, Ohio St. Penn St etc....

But the fact is Barnett had to find players who could compete with Big 10 athletes and get it done in the class room at arguably one of the most difficult universities to gain admission to in the Us.

Plus' Barnett might consider:

SMU is not harder to get into than NW.
SMU can recruit from TX (hopefully).
SMU has facilities maybe better than NW.

And SMU should consider that the Colorado program absolutely cratered under his watch, he hacked off many of the women (not mention many men) in Colorado when his initial response to the female kicker's claim of abuse was that she "was horrible" and that there is widespread belief that the recruiting practices that drew some of those players to CU didn't exactly follow NCAA guidelines to the letter of the law.

This is not the kind of hire that Turner (Mr. PC) would sign off on. Good coach, but no way he comes here.

I'll admit Barnett's baggage might be a problem but he had CU in the Big 12 championship game almost every year he was there.

I never heard of any problems at NW.

I'm sure if Orsini pushed hard enough.

You people, you people. If we leave it up to Orsini who will be here only 2-3 years, we will get some no name that will [deleted] all of you off and the chat site gets stronger with some more [deleted]!!
