Forget Football.... Bring Baseball Back

Football is dead at SMU. We gave it a good shot and came up a yard short. Texas is a hotbed for baseball talent. Lets use that money to building a new stadium on campus, bring in a good coach, and in two years we would be playing for the national championship. Baseball has been long overdue in its return the to the SMU campus.

You put up the $40 Million or so that it will take to field a competitive football and softball program as well as some other minor women's sport like gymnastics or bowling and they'll be happy to listen to you.

A) Football is not dead at SMU
B) There's a $56 million stadium with the chairman of the board of trustees' name over the door. Football is going nowhere.
C) Have you noticed there are some football players in Texas, too? Apparently in most towns in the state, the Super Bowl is played every Friday night. Roger Clemens and Josh Beckett aside, Texas always is and always will be a football state first.
D) The baseball issue has been beaten to death. Over and over and over. It's a non-issue.

Believe me, I'd love BASEBALL, too. But unfortunately, it's simply not realistic in the 'near' future; down the road, you never know

Who would ever thought college BASEBALL would have gotten as big as it is now? Frankly - no one!

To get either Baseball or Track back you are going to have to start with Women's Softball or Women's Track and then start the discussion for the men.

If we got the women to show there tiddlies more often, the winks would surely follow.
