Now that that is over...

We need to improve in 4 areas for next year.

1 3rd and long defense. Our pathetic 3rd and long defense cost us games and made contest out of other games that should not have been close.

2. Consistent offense. Asking a red shirt freshman to run all over the field to "make something happen" isn't fair to the kid or consistent enough to win games. Improve the running game and make the passing game more flexible and diverse.

3. Eliminate penalties in the kicking game. Bring back great returns cost us over and over.

4. Here is the killer instinct? We have to develop a killer instinct to put away the Houston and Rice Us of the world. Not to mention that there was nothing but pure D wussy agaisnt NTSU.

1. I think you mean our pathetic pass D. Teams just often had 3rd and long because they kept trying to run on us. We'd put them into 3rd and longs then they'd pass all over us. Had they passed on 1st or second down though, we would have had the same problem in my opinion.

2 and 4. Consistency on offense goes a long ways with winning and with killer instinct. Its pretty much impossible to have "killer instinct" when our O would be there for 1 half then on vacation for the other half. If we are consistency on offense is what we lacked the second halves of both UH and Rice, which caused us to lose, which called into question our "killer instinct".

3. Agreed. ANd penalties everywhere else on the field too hopefully.
