How are we going to recruit top talent to possibly solidify our O-Line and D-Line? Does anyone know any big kids out there? For those of you who want to win, or truly love SMU football like I have for 38 years, it is not against the NCAA regulations to talk up SMU football wherever you go and to anyone that will listen. Even better, talk up the institution!! Get the kids on campus and they will stay!!!! Are you willing or are you just.....?

a high percentage of all Top Texas recruits were on campus for the Rivals preseason camp-it sounds nice to alumni to say all we have to do is get them on campus and they will stay but recruiting is about relationships-you still have to outrecruit every body else in the state and about 60 other teams recruiting Texas.

Out recruit or out sell? There is a difference! We have to sell the program one way or another. We will never out recruit the other schools, but we can out sell all of them. We have to start doing something different!

I don't think the suggestion is that we'll have our pick of kids who come on campus. You're right, Stallion, that relationships must be cultivated, and you're right, bigdaddy, that the program and school need to be sold. But we certainly have a better shot at kids who do visit (before official visits are taken) than those who don't, right? A quick glance at the 2006 class shows that Rhodes, Burley, Hudnall, Gonzalez, Sowe and Cunningham all attended camp at SMU, and who knows how many got their first glimpse of the campus on Junior Day.
