I know that this is not exactly two deep, but I was hoping that we could narrow it down a little. Now before everyone gets crazy mad over where these kids are on the dept chart, let me say that they are in no particular order. These are just the kids that we have now in the positions that they are listed in. Feel free to move them around anywhere you want. I would love to hear about some of the kids coming up because a lot of the guys I know our graduating so I don’t have any experience with their playing ability. Looks like we have a lot of kids coming back, but our D-line which played so well last year only returns one starter. If any knows any high school players that could come in and play immediately, add them to the list.

After reading the above I have the following desires.
WE NEED
two JUCO DT/NG with some weight to them. Yes they need to be able to run too.
How about a 6'3+ WR
and to wrap it up two hard hitting safetys.
Go PB, bring in the herd!!!

Question for those in the know. The Greenberg kid at wideout. Is he a scholarship or walkon player. I have no knowledge of his abilities so please do not read anything into this post. I noticed all year however, that he is tiny compared to the rest of the team. I always thought he was a coache's kid just dressed up on the sideline for fun. Then I looked him up and found he was a player. Again, this is nothing to do with his ability. Randy Allen was about the same size when he and I were at SMU and he made some very positive impact on the team. Just curious.

Chase Kennemer is a Middle Linebacker. I would expect you will see a lot of him over the next years. He will be a redshirt sophmore next season, as he should be correctly listed as a redshirt freshman this year.

Don't even try to predict the two deep. There will be some shake-ups during the spring, maybe they are starting now. Chase Smith has to play ane will play at DE, Mitch Enright, if he gains 10-15lbs during offseason will compete for starting job at guard, Lee Gonzales at 305 will play and play frequently, some of the upper classmen better get right, Zac Zimmerman is a Bobby chase with better speed and hands??, he will see plenty action, Patrick Handy will start in Justin Rodgers spot, Paul Hiemenz, if he can remember the defenses*)%@, will play, Anthony Sowe will compete for a starting job at either safety, where he played in HS or WLB, where we can move Wilton to Safety, Peter Fleps will also compete for a starting job at SLB, he has gotten bigger and very fast and intelligent, KJ Ellis will play extensively at either corner or safety. Tell me what you think?

Yeah...who knows exactly what you are talking about. Use some punctuation.
Anyways, Chase Smith will be a starting tackle because Darrin Johnson graduated. He won't be playing any defensive end.
Enright is a solid OL who saw time at center this year and some guard. He should fit fine in at RG because I heard they are moving Peveto to holder because that's what he does best. Our OL is rock-solid. Smith, Lobo, Poynter, Peveto, Burley -- mix in a little Enright.
Barring Juco signees or 5 star recruits coming out the woodwork:
QB will be Willis Slater Rhodes and move out Slater if he transfers. Who wants to be a JR with 2 younger, solid QBs. Hopefully he stays.
RBs are easy.
TE is Chase, Brock, Walker.
WR is Sanders, Givens, Sledge, Zimmerman and the redshirting freshman (Burley, Medford).
Hopefully we will see some of Andrew McKinney @ fullback.
Defensively,
DE will be Handy and Muse backed up by Griffin Dizer and Johnson -- possibly McKinney and Zac Thomas.
DT will be Parham and Berry, backed up by Degroat, Lankford and Dollens (if they are foolish enough to leave Zac Thomas inside then add him here as well).
LBs should not change from Carrington Hawkins McCray, backed up by Hurst Bonilla Heimenz Fleps Sowe and Bon
Corners should be Lindley and McCann, and don't forget Brandon Jones. Back ups will be Devin Lowery and David Haynes along with Lacori Johnson and Crosby
Safeties will be Bryce Hudman and one of the following: Lindley, Jones, Tyler Jones, KJ Ellis.
FG is Morstead and Harris. Punting is Morstead and Galloway. Kickoffs Cunningham and Morstead.
I don't think any transfer this year made any redshirting freshman look bad on the scout team except Ellis.

Actually, I think I will try, despite you. I predict we will be two deep at every position with kids who have never played a down of post-season college football.

Take my post and print it out, and when the season starts you can talk dirty to me then. Mitch E. has to gain some weight. PB will go Defense first due to the incapabilty to hold 14 point leads?? We scored enough points to when at least 3 more games than what we did, maybe four. The best physical athletes have to be on defense. PB will ensure that! Brandon Jones has proven to not be reliable. He has to win back the trust of the coaches. Biggest question is the departure of our team leader Joe Studivant. We are deep with linebackers, thus POSSIBLY moving Wilton McCray to safety. That could be great, Wilton and Hud? O-Line will be deeper, but there could be some changes there also. Depending on his development Sowe could play some at safety also. You have to remember this is not HS football. Schemes will kill some of these younger kids if they are not ready. It showed throughout the season with McCann and Hud. Size really played a factor, that is why the comment on Mitch and big Zac Thomas making an impact at DE, as well as McKinney. Both are big, fast and physical!

Talk dirty? Haha. Like this is some sort of ego competition.
Enright won't start on the O-Line because he is not tall enough to challenge guys like Peveto or Poynter or Lobo for their jobs. Their arm length, greater shoulder width and experience give them an edge that Mitch will have to wait behind until after this coming year when 3 starters graduate. He will see a lot of time this year -- but he won't start unless somebody fumbles the ball badly (which would not really surprise me).
Keep in mind the other guard, Tommy Poynter, who will be an experienced backup after falling out of the starting line last year. Mitch will get thicker next year, but I don't see him busting past the 6'1" boundary any time soon.
When you say PB will go defense first you are talking moving Chase Smith to defensive line? Why would anyone take your book-end, blind-side covering offensive tackle...one of only 3 backup lineman last year who saw significant playing time...and throw him on the D-Line. That is what I think they are doing with Brad Lankford instead.
Brandon Jones has proven he can't make his grades but everyone sang his praises starting last summer when he was voluntarily keeping himself around in the summer working hard -- or this year when he sat on scout team for 14 weeks. He has earned his way back I would hope -- but beyond that, he played opposite of Ro in 05 for the year. He beat out Lindley, Haynes, LaCori...all of them. He will be a starter in the secondary next year either opposite of Lindley or at safety.
Yes, anything is possible. Including, moving McCray to safety. It isn't going to happen. Our 3 best linebackers are playing linebacker...Bennett is not going to put his 4 year starting OLB up at safety when his job is treading water. I know he is undersized but Tony Hawkins is a better safety candidate altogether if you want to argue that position change.
It showed throughout the year with Hudman? Hudman played backup all year until ECU. That means he got legit time against starting offenses for 3.5 games. 3.5/12 is not "throughout the year". I thought he did a damn good job. I also thought McCann, as a true freshman corner, did a hell of a job.
Overall, your ideas are wack. No need to print it out and wait to tell you.
Also, your depth chart seems to me to be your predictions in order.
Not that I need to really discredit your little depth chart anymore but Darrin Johnson is graduating, Randall Goode is graduating, you have a small walkon ahead of Nigh at LT, your own boy Mitch Enright behind Holmes at both C and RG, you have our deep snapper ahead of Jeff Brock and a walk on ahead of Mario Walker at TE, you have Medford behind the 5'3" walkon at WR, "big" Zac Thomas is behind 2 walkons on your right DE list, more redshirting freshman behind walk on players at LB, you have a small walkon CB ahead of 3 scholarship players, Tyler Jones will be a S I would expect, not a corner.
**By walkon, I am not discrediting anything about any of them but usually if they are going to see time they do or they get put on scholarship. Walkon contributors like Bonilla, Hiemenz, Morstead, Ben Poynter, Tommy Poynter, Jackson Taylor, etc., who got scholarships aren't included.

If you know anything about FOOTBALL, you know that a depth chart that includes freshmen or redshirt freshmen means nothing. You redshirt freshmen for one or two reasons: 1. They will not make a difference that year or 2. Your chances next year will greatly increase. You will see when the season starts how many of the jerseys you seen on the sidelines will be grass stained and dirty. You do not play youth at this level unless you have no choice, or they are just fenoms. We have no fenomes. We have several good players. The schemes are too much for them to understand at this level. They need time in the weight room and film room, learning the schematics. It is more than just tackle the man with the football. Remember that game? Holmes never seen the field? Mitch played some during the season. What are you talking about? Zac Thomas is a monster and will be anothe All American at DE. Now, if he continues to grow that redneck body, he could move to DT, but I don't think so. He is to athletic.

Joe Holmes played in blowouts. When Mitch went in he went in at guard, or he went in at center and Poynter bounced out to tackle.
Zac Thomas, the All-American. Gotcha.

Have you followed this kids bio through HS. We are lucky to have him at SMU! Man, get some info and stop just trying to discredit eveything I am saying. Get some info. This kid was a fenome, he just lived in Stephenville, Tx. No media outlet whatsoever, and the team his senior year was not that good. No recognition? Stop posting if you have no desire for SMU to succeed. Do you have a life or job? If so , go to work please.
