Smith wins the Hesiman...someone refresh my memory

...what was Ohio State's penalty for the $500 payment from a booster to Troy Smith? I know Smith was suspended and had to pay the money back...is that it? No lack of institutional control?

Smith was given a 2 game suspension for that penalty. He had to sit out for the 2004 Alamo Bowl against Oklahoma State. Then he had to sit out the first game of the 2005 season (the game prior to the Texas game).

Smith did not start the Texas game and some wanted him off the team because they did not think he would make it playing behind Justin Swick.

For those that remember, Smith did not go out onto the field after Limus Sweed scored the game winning TD. Justin went out on the field in OSUs final drive.
