Coach Bennett was the keynote speaker at the Mt. Vernon Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet tonight. He was invited, of course, by MV Coach Dickey Meeks. It's great to see him continue to solidify his ties into east Texas and promote SMU.

He is really working for us, as in the team. He sees something and wont stop working for it!!

My parents had the pleasure of sitting at the table with Coach Bennett, his girlfriend, Rickey Joe Meeks and his parents. They said Coach B was truly an amazing person and gave a great motivational talk. At this banquet, there was also a silent auction to benefit charity. When Coach B learned of this, he promptly donated 4 sideline passes to the SMU-OSU game next season. They were quickly purchased by 2 SMU alums. These little things multiplied over and over again is why we are truly lucky and blessed to have him as our coach.

Coach Bennett sounds like an unbelievable man. It's no wonder the fans and alumni seem to like him so much. And all this will only make his stronghold in East Texas stronger (or maybe it's his brother's.)

Coach Bennett's girlfriend. If you recall, last year the DMN did a big article on Coach B the day of his first SMU game and it referenced his girlfriend in the article. Rickey Joe had his girlfriend there as well.
