I hear they're making December 25, Todd Dodge Day instead of Christmas. You'd think from all the worship being shown him on this board that he's better than JC.

I wish people would understand that he is a high school coach. aka Glorified Busdriver. Little more to the college game than just having the most athletic kids in the neighborhood.

Unfortunately he doesn't have the most athletic kids in his district, he doesn't have anything close to the largest number of students, there are 35 schools in the Metroplex alone that have larger enrollments, there are probably 70-100 in Texas that have larger enrollments. The depth of your ignorance on this subject is unfathomable. This is an absolutely outstanding choice as Head Coach-and I look forward to watch ALL of you eat crow for many substantial years in the future as you have with Todd Graham. Hell this guy has won about 24 games OUTSIDE his district in the last 5 years further disproving "your best kids in the district" claim

And when Dodge stumbles, I will be proud to serve you a plate a crow with a [deleted] sandwich on the side.

Stallion, I have seen you have hard-ons for guys before, but even for you this is ridiculous.

What is ridiculous is that just because so many of you think you are below NTSU that you can't recognize what all Coaches College and High School coaches know -that Todd Dodge is a future superstar in this business. If Dodge had wanted it he could have had about 15-20 Offensive Coordinator/Head Coach jobs in the last 2-3 years.

I see him in a category with Malzahn at Arkansas. Malzahn has chosen the BCS OC route and will do very well and eventually land a head coaching job at a BCS school. Dodge, I foresee making a splash and then depending on the right job he may go BCS OC and ease into a HC or go straight BCS HC. I tend ot agree with Stallion in that his coaching record is not just one of a good history but rather a great history. He may tank but the upsdie seems to be there for the taking. The only thing I would take to the bank is that he will not retire from coaching at NTSU.

Everyone exhale for a minute. Winning those games outside your district does not prove OR disprove the "best kids in the district." A coach could have the entire all-district team on his roster, or he could have the most uncoordinated crew in the district. But if the teams outside his district have players who are even worse, then he could run up an impressive win total.

Agreed, he'll either be fired or move on. I won't dispute his success at the high school level. I won't even predict failure for him just yet, but college is altogether a different beast. Just look at Rick Pitino, John Calipari, Dennis Erickson, Butch Davis, etc failing in their transition from college to the pros. It is good to see NTSU give him a chance, however it is even better to see SMU was not the school to gamble on him. If/when PB moves on to bigger and better things, hopefully he can move on to bigger and better things at SMU.

I'm not the one who made the "best kids in his district" comment. I was responding to some else who made that claim. Dodge has won about half as many games OUTSIDE his District against the best teams 5A can throw up against him so the rather ignorant point makes no sense. There are schools all over the State with much better talent than Todd Dodge has.

Ok, now this is important so pay attention please. How do I get just a partial quote for reference such as mustangxc did a couple of posts above? I have tried highlighting and then hitting the quote button but that does not work.. Please explain in simple terms, I am old and computer illiterate. Thanks.

In high school you see 2 maybe 3 defenses the entire year. If you watch Southlake, the mainly create a matchup with a receiver in the slot and a safety. In college you will see 3 different defenses in the first series all being able to adjust to matchup problems. Malzahn did not even try to put in his high school offense for a reason, because it is a high school offense and will be figured out in about a day. Dodge is way over hyped and everyone will see it. He is a high school coach who is at a school where football is what you eat sleep and drink from the time you can walk. I think we can expect a typical performance from NTSU. By the way Stallion, this has nothing to do with thinking SMU is better than NTSU. College and HS are two completely different worlds when it comes to coaching.

Just hit the quote button, and it brings up the entire post. Delete the parts you don't want, and voila. Example below.

Make sure to leave the [ quote ] tags alone though.

Well my HS coach went to college (d1aa however) and took his team to the national championship via playoff. I played in college and in HS and yes there is a difference but some coaches are special and have the "it" factor. I personally believe that both Dodge and Malzahn have it. No need to worry about it because time will answer all of these questions. I do not know why we worry about this anyway. Like it or not, Orsini was not going to dump Bennett for a high school coach regardless of the perceived ability, so we have not lost anything.
