Former Texas QB Snead considering visit to UNT

11:47 PM CST on Thursday, December 14, 2006

DENTON – Stephenville coach Chad Morris said former Texas quarterback Jevan Snead might add UNT to his list of schools. Snead has visited TCU and Houston and is scheduled to meet with coaches at Mississippi today. Morris said UNT's decision to hire Southlake Carroll's Todd Dodge, who will install a spread offense, caught Snead's interest.

Briles will lure Snead to Houston, but I think if it was down to TCU and UNT, Snead would chose UNT because they do not have steady QB play, the froggies have decent QB play. Snead already got out played once, he doesnt want that to happen again.

Prepare Thyself

Jevan Snead will be TCU's quarterback starting in the 2008.

He will be required to sit out the 2007 season but will have

three seasons of eligibility remaining thereafter. Watch

Based on what I have read, he'll go wherever someone hands him the starting job and he can showcase his NFL skills. I've never read anything that leads me to believe he really wants to compete and win. I'm not saying we wouldn't take him...just not sure I'd lose sleep if he goes elsewhere.

Heard that too. Does he have the stomach for the fight to win the job? Look what happened after he committed to Florida? When the Gators got Tim Teabow, Snead de-committed.

Then when he competed against Colt McCoy and lost out, now he's transferring.

Sounds to me that he's one of those athletes who wants everything handed to him. And he has too many enablers sitting around him.

To the victor in these sweepstakes, just know what you are getting.

Amen to that...I think you are right on the money. I would hope our coaches would tell him "no thanks" if he is basically looking for a guaranty. I guess it all depends on what the coaches have seen from our backup and freshman QBs.

Im sure Dodge will give him a guarenteed starting position because most likely Riley will get better offers from better schools.

the market in Texas for 5-11 QBs is preety much 1 school.

along the same lines-the Rice board says that WR Evan Fentriss who SMU offered last year has decided to transfer from Rice to NTSU to play under Dodge.

I wouldn't be surprised if Corbin Smiter followed him.

I doubt hes going because of Dodge...Its probably because Rice has this guy named Dillard who is so good that he'll get every ball thrown to him next year.

Its 100% because of Dodge. He played at SLC.

Snead going to UNT is about as likely as Smoo beating us next year.

How sad is it that a kid would give up a Rice education to play football at NTSU. Unless you are a freak like Dillard, the odds of going from Rice or NTSU to the NFL are remote yet this kid is giving up a degree from best rated academic institution in the state. Huge mistake in my opinion.
