I guess that's what the spread offense was supposed to do to Rice. What was our story? I must say it sucked walking through Love and seeing a bunch of Rice fans getting on the flight to NO.
Why didn't Haugabook come to SMU again? Grades?

Thank God. Am I the only one who is happy that happened? Maybe now their program won't be going uphill. This game should also be a lesson to future opponents on how to stop Rice.

I don't know. I would have liked to see Rice put up a better showing than that. It's good for C-USA teams to do well -- it reflects better on the conference and us for losing to them. Plus, it's kinda hard to hate Rice.
Hopefully our conference teams will do better, although ECU is currently getting pounded by USF.

Of course this is tongue in cheek but, after watching the fiesty night birds get their arses handed to them in every phase of the football game, it almost makes you glad we didn't go to the NO Bowl........or glad we don't play in that powerhouse Sun Belt league.
As a whole, Troy looked bigger, meaner, nastier, faster, more athletic, more aggressive, more talent, you name it....than Rice. Rice still looks like Highland Park, not too big, not very fast, inferior athletes, but this was the year they were able to string together some wins. I may have to check myself into Rusk, or just get some counseling. I am still a mad son of a gun over this past season. I think I'll go to the Barnes and Noble, and pick up a SMU hoops shirt.

They said on the broadcast that Haugabook(sp?) had been recently timed at 4.4. He looked good against "the institute." I wonder if Willis would have beaten him out.

What's your reasoning behind it being "kinda hard to hate Rice"?

Personally, I don't have a problem with Rice. It's a good school, their fans were friendly when we went down there this year, and it's hard to knock a school for getting to a bowl for the first time in 40-something years.
I can't hate a school for beating us fair and square.
Maybe some of the older fans dislike them for whatever reason relating to the SWC, but I wasn't old enough to remember those "glory days."

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy making copious amounts of fun of their student body.

Plus it is great with either brown or cream gravy.
