...playing in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA right now. Oklahoma State leads Alabama, 31-17 in the 4th.

Okie State won but Alabama ran a play I had never seen before. Ball snapped and OT backed up and took a backward pass from the QB. The OT was not an eligible receiver for a pass, but since it was a lateral he was an eligible "receiver". Obviously no one was covering him and he just walltzed into the end zone. It was run from around the 5 yard line. Great play and great call.

At about that point, I was singing Joe Kines' praises...then he blows 3 timeouts trying to ice the OSU kicker when he should have saved two (one to stop the clock after the kickoff and one to call if they complete a pass but get tackled like on the 20 and there's still time on the clock).

I was scratching my head at that point, too. Seemed like kind of a defeatest strategy.

Oklahoma State got the only conference win in Thursdays "Big XII Bowl Nite"
I have to say that it was a better game than the first 5 bowls played

yea, that strategy at the end of the game was awful...at least save ONE time out.... burning 3 at the end was dumb. Any D-1 kicker would have made that kick. I could have made that kick.

Maybe Kines was afraid that if he did things right they might name him permanent coach. Appears nobody wants the job.

...Arkansas already tried that and that was years ago.

Bowl tie-ins created that 6-6 confrontation. By the way, who coached Alabama?

Joe Kines was the interim Coach-just as he was the interim Coach who actually got the job at Arkansas in the 1990s.
