In the new blog Orsini is optimistic that we can become a top 25 program especially after Boise State's big win over OU. I believe that he is specifically referring to SMU's football program. For us to reach that level, Bennett better have an exceptional eye for picking out players that everyone else is missing, because he rarely is in on the top recruits listed by ANY of the recruiting services. Maybe he should consider recruiting Houston or some other areas up north if all the local athletes want to leave home. I don't know what the solution is, but he better show SIGNIFICANT improvement next year or I think Orsini WILL find someone who can improve on our recruiting. I still can't believe that we aren't in on SOME of the top recruits around here with the facilities we have, the beautiful campus, etc., etc. etc. Getting outrecruited by Rice and Tulsa is embarrasing and really speaks VOLUMES!

It is extremely frustrating to see Boise and TCU continue to dominate all non-bcs teams and know that you provide a better education, facilities, and location than all of those schools and still can't even post a winning season. I will watch next year with much despair, but I will look forward to Orsini bringing in someone that will once and for all put us back on the map.
In the back of my mind I do think that a new coach would get winning started but PB has what it takes, he just needs to get the team to that "higher level" of winning.
It took Al Grobe 6 years to get WAKE to a BCS bowl game and Schiano has done wonders with Rutgers. It all comes down to recruiting the best players that can develop into a CFB player, not about getting the best highschool player out there. You can look at guys like Tony Romo and Jerry Rice. Those guys didnt play at big name schools. They werent big name recruits but they developed into PLAYERS. PB has one year to get it done now. He needs to take every single second of spring practice looking at EVERY player on the team, not just the returning starters and their back ups. If i recall last season, Demyron Martin started 4th or 5th on the RB chart. He ended the year just short of the SMU Frosh Rushing record and was a Freshman AA.
