Ohio State, and the mighty BigTenAnyone notice that Ohio State only played 2 Big10 teams with winning records? They did not have to play Purdue or Wisconsin this year.
Also, their non-conference was against (now we know) an average Texas team, Northern Illinois (7-6), and Cincinnatti (7-5), and Bowling Green (4-8 ). Now exactly a world beater schedule, especially after watching Michigan destroyed by USC ... Oh, and the Big10 is what 2-4 now? (2 victories over SEC schools, by 10 (4 fumbles by TENN) and 3 points (refs f'ed Ark). 2 blowout losses, 2 close losses). I'll even give them a good game where Mach Brown inexplicitly went for 2 to allow Iowa a 'chance' to win it at the end...and the ref's f'ed Iowa as the UT RB was out of bounds with 56 seconds to go... nice... Look at the top of OHIO STATE schedule vs. the top of BOISE STATE’s schedule: NOTE: BigTen has 6 teams with “losing†records OSU – 3-0 vs. ranked opponents (1 out of conference) Ohio State non-conference (3 home games, 1 road): -------------------------- Northern Illinois (7-6) - tied for MAC #5/6 team At Texas (10-3) - with bowl win over Iowa (6-7) - RANKED Cincinnati (7-5) - the Big East #5 Bowling Green (4-8 ) - tied for MAC #8/9/10 The ONLY significant conference wins:---------------------------- Penn State (9-4) – RANKED – did not beat any non-conference teams with winning records Michigan (11-2) - lost big to USC - RANKED ** Did not play Purdue (8-6) or Wisconsin (12-1), the only other teams with winning records from the BigTen BSU – 3-0 vs. ranked opponents (2 out of conference) Boise State non-conference (2 road games, 2 home): --------------------------- Sacramento State (1-AA) Oregon State (10-3) - who beat USC - RANKED At Wyoming (6-6) – tied for the MWC #3 At Utah (8-5) – tied for the MWC #3 - who beat TCU Also: Hawaii (11-3) – won their bowl game – RANKED; beat Purdue, ArizSt, lost to OreSt 35-32 San Jose State (9-4) - won their bowl game At Nevada (8-5) – lost their bowl game to Miami by a point Oklahoma (11-3) - who should be 12-2 - RANKED I'd say At Wyoming and At Utah is a tougher non-conference than home games against BGU, Cincy, and NIU. And isn't Oregon State about = to Texas?
Im sick of all this hater-aid on the BIG 10. Yes we all know that they did not play a tough Out of Conference Schedule but MOST BCS conferences dont play hard OOC teams. Its the Mid Majors that play the Hard OOC teams to try and bulk up their maybe "weak" conference schedule.
Hawaii did not finish the regular season ranked because they lost to then unranked Oregon State to end the season. Everyone should know by know that there can be a BIG 10 team that does not play the "top" team and still go undefeated in the conference. Happenend in 2002 when Brad Banks and Iowa shared the BIG 10 title with OSU. Both those teams never played each other. Iowa got blown out by Carson in the OB while Tressel got his first national title in the FB. Who gives a damn about showing schedule statistics about how bad the B10 might be. The whole argument will be settled on Monday. If OSU wins it all then lets stop bothering with the "Big 10 is overrated" crap. I think the Big 10 is overrated but there are other Overrated conferences out there too.
I thought I'd point out Cincy played a pretty tough schedule including:
#1 Ohio St. #7 Louisville #7 Rutgers #10 W Virginia #11 Va Tech

I was wrong. South Florida beat WVU, The Bear Cats beat Rutgers.
The Big East you can say was a surprise conference this year but solidified its spot as a BCS conference and Force to be wreckend with for years to come in CFB.
Yeah, I don't think anyone wants their "end-wrecked" GO MUSTANGS!
FIGHT ON!
Get a life. OSU schedules and plays the defending National Champion and there are complaints. Winning the Big Ten or the SEC, etc. ain't bad.
As for the BCS, it was initiated by SEC Commissioner, when it was created. The BCS conferences love it, including the Big Ten. The rich get richer. It doesn't hurt be to have state universities with huge alumni base and fans creating the revenue that pays for the greed of the entire BCS. If you want to complain about something really terrible, how about the Board of Trustees at Alabama paying $32M for Saban. That means all BCS coaches will be getting raises in the future. The system is broken. And the NCAA and college presidents put their heads in the sand. BTW, Go Buckeyes! Beat the Gators! Pony Up
LSU might be the best team in the SEC RIGHT NOW, but Florida is the champion of what is among the best conferences in the country. The Big 10 is also clearly among the best conferences. The nice thing is that this will be settled on the field and there was no more deserving opponent for Ohio State. The team that plays the best on 1/8 will be National Champs. It's that simple.
One thing about the bowl system and the BCS...it has stimulated a TON of interest and debate as to which conferences are stronger And the current BCS formula allowed Boise State to add to the debate. Realistically, the only way any team from a non-BCS conference deserves to be in one of the big games is by running the table like Boise State (and Utah before them) did.
Sagarin has Big10 as 5th, they have 6 teams with losing records Ohio State only played 2 teams in the Big10 with winning records, 6 with losing records. Penn State nor Wisconsin beat a non-conference Div-1a team with a winning record (until their bowl wins)
