Boise State or FloridaThe AP will name its National Champion in less than 12 hours I believe.
I am sure it will be Florida at #1 in their poll since they were #2 going into the NC. This is how I think their top6 will be: 1. Florida 2. LSU 3. Louisville 4. Wisconsin 5. USC 6. Boise State
Boise needs to be higher than 6th...not that they will be, but they were undefeated.
That said...Florida just showed without a doubt that they are the best team in the nation. And with 13 freshman getting seriously playing time...they could be in this position for years to come
How can you put Wisconsin in front of 'SC? Which ranked teams did they play? Oh yeah, Michigan and Arkansas (Wisconsin went 1-1 barely getting by AR), both teams which USC blew out (Ark in Fayetteville!).
Didn't we all just come to the conclusion that the Big 10 was the joke of the year? GO MUSTANGS!
FIGHT ON!
Yea, I came to that conclusion long ago. Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
If anything, tonight's so-called 'national championship' game points out even more how flawed the BCS is and why there should be a Div. 1-A title game (national champion) playoff system.
OSU #2? That's ridiculous. Did they watch the game? I would put LSU #2 before OSU, but that's that SEC bias talking.
Boise State went undefeated on a schedule that SMU could have gone bowling on. That's all I'm saying about that.

We had that schedule for about 10 years and never went bowling on it. Bad analogy. In addition to OU, Boise also beat BYU who walloped a PAC 10 team in their bowl game as well as TCU. They beat Oregon State who did pretty well this year. Florida had one loss this year, Boise didn't. I'd vote them #1 on the SMU 1982 method. 1 loss means you shouldn't be ranked higher than an undefeated team.
Wisc didn't even have to play Ohio State...and all 4 of their non-conference games were against losing programs, including 2 of the ESPN Bottom 10
i agree....although they'll finish top 5 this year, i have them out of the top 10 to start the preseason. they're in the WAC. and because they had to resort to trick plays to beat an OU team that wasn't winning impressively all year (see: UAB, Washington, Texas Tech, Ok. State, A&M, Colorado), still doesn't impress me. was that game exciting? hell yes. was it as big of an upset as all think? no.
They beat 6 bowl teams and had a significantly tougher schedule than Wisconsin. SMU had an easier schedule than both and did not go bowling. Must have been a rebuilding year...
I think the biggest snub is Louisville. Everybody forgot about them when they lost to Rutgers, but they finished 12-1 with a strength of schedule around 10th. I would have them in my top 4 with Boise, Florida, and Ohio St. (not in that order).
Sorry, but strength of schedule means more than whether you are undefeated. Boise State had the 90th hardest schedule out of 117 Div-1A teams. Excuse me if I don't jump on the bandwagon. Sure, they beat some good opponents, but I'm way more impressed with Florida (who played the 8th hardest schedule, I might add), despite their one loss, than I am with Boise State coasting though a relatively easy schedule.
Oh, and to further this point, TCU had the 85th hardest schedule and BYU the 74th. Not exactly world beaters. And just to show a little parity, I think Texas should have done better with a middle-of-the-road schedule at 61. SOS Link ![]() Official Cult of Chris Phillips Member
