I noticed on the CUSA fanboard ncaabbs/cusa/ that many of the fans from other Conference schools were picking SMU or Rice to win the West next year. What am I missing? Are we really that good? Maybe we are. Seems like we lost an awful lot of Defensive power this year to be able to win the West. This really surprised me.

becuase we got a top SOPH qb in Justin Willis who truly wants to win ball games. also becuase if we have a season close to mediocrity bennett's cleaning out his office...lol got to have a winning mentality

1. Krag is gone from Tulsa
2. Kolb is gone from Houston
SMU and Rice return some of the most exciting players to watch in the West.

Yes, Palmer and Higgins are gone from UTEP.
We return a lot of key guys on the Offensive side of the ball. Rice has Dillard so I am sure that us and Rice are the favorites for now.

saw that today. One of the rules was you couldn't vote for your own team, so that might have played a bit in it as well.

UH still has those running backs and wideouts next year, right? Rice still has their playmaker but with a new coach. Tulsa should continue to be tough. UTEP is rebuilding on the fly with JUCO's and Price is a solid coach. Tulane has a new coach. We have a shot, but we have a tougher cross divisional schedule this year than last year. We get USM, UCF and Memphis. USM is always tough. UCF should be better next year as should Memphis. We really have to take care of business inside of our division in order to have a chance of winning the division because I could see us going 1-2 out of division.
