“The place that I was at is not there from a commitment standpoint and a pay standpoint.”

Amen. Football just really ain't that important at Rice. They could have matched that offer. I bet the football program loses 3 times more over the next 8 years than the difference between his salary at Tulsa minus his salary at Rice. The Tulsa program has earned my respect over the years while Rice is still playing at Autry. The only sign of commitment at Rice over the last 40 years is the the direct result of a young inexperienced Coach named Todd Graham. You watch Graham will also make more changes at Tulsa quickly earning that 1.1 Million with his energy and enthusiasm. The difference is that Tulsa is committed to a strong Division 1A program. At Rice, Graham was committed. It's called institutional support.

For all the good pub that going to a bowl game got Rice, they definitely should have put up the money to keep him, and especially afer spending the money to refurbish their stadium. They will never have a chance at filling that stadium up now. I would be very depressed if I were a Rice football fan. Makes our administration look spendthrift by comparison.

if you remeber there was a couple of posters on here that said Rice would be turned around in one year with that hire........Stallion you were right..admissions was an issue as well as an issue that Rice was not willing to support Graham`s ideas 100%..........look for Tulsa to be the next Boise..............

It's too bad Graham can't use proper English when giving a quote. Of course, if he's making that kind of money, he probably doesn't care.

Todd gave Rice the chance to match Tulsa's offer, they declined.

So why did he just recently sign a contract at Rice?

The guy is weasal, just lke Saban.

If you don't like Rice, don't sign with 'em.

He did, then turned around and took the Tulsa job AND THEN bad mouthed 'em. I hope Rice kicks Tulsa's *ss.
