Not that this is a big suprise, but TV Station KFSM in Ft. Smith/Fayetteville is now reporting that Arkansas schoolboy hero Mitch Mustain is going to leave the University and transfer:

"It'd be nice to see Jesse Henderson break one here."

Nutt and Lord Broyles stated yesterday that they would give the kid his release if he ask for it.
I wonder how this will affect the beloved Razorbacks' recruiting class rank from last year?

Word is they have initially refused to give him his outright release. They are in negotiation at this time.
I will be surprised if he goes to Tulsa. He might but I think he wants bigger time. If he is going to sit out a year, I see something like Florida or Tennessee (if they let him go SEC).

there is NO WAY they will release him to the SEC. Most conferences including the Big 12 have a rule against it.

I bet the real negotiation is how much of his signing bonus he has to repay.

looks like he can finally redshirt and actually learn an offense and adjust to it.
the only freshman QB i follow from last season (besides Willis) is Stafford @ UGA. local product and i hope he improves next season...a lot.

When Arkansas released Damian Williams they made it wide open and said he was free to sign with another SEC team. Granted it would be a little more touchy with a QB but there evidently is not a rule. That might be what the negotiations are all about.

I am not. Mustain was headed to ND until the beloved Razorbacks up and hired Malzahn. Mustain wants to play for his HS coach. There is a bond there that is of greater value to Mustain than other ambition.
The word in Arkyland is how all this will adversely affect the beloved Razorbacks' recruiting. They already have 19 commits so one doubts this will be too big an issue.

9:00 news had Nutt stating that he had given Mustain his full, unconditional release. Nutt added that Mustain had not yet said he was going to transfer and Nutt "hopes he will stay". However, the reports say he will leave. The Arkansas news says the Tulsa news says Mustain is going to Tulsa but there has been no announcement or confirmation of that.
It would be an easy move for Mustain, but I still think he might end up somewhere else. Who knows???? Only his mommy.
