Sad Story about Donte Womackhttp://www.nwanews.com/adg/News/181115/
Donte Womack of Little Rock, a former running back for Southern Methodist University who found success running against the University of Arkansas teams of the mid-1990 s, was arrested late last month after he was accused of beating his girlfriend and threatening to kill her. The 31-year-old was arrested Jan. 31 on charges of aggravated assault, domestic battery and kidnapping and remains in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $ 250, 000 bond. According to an affidavit for his arrest, his girlfriend, Sabria Patterson, 21, said he reacted violently when she tried to move out of their home on 6712 Marguerite Lane on New Year’s Day. Patterson told officers that Womack threatened her with a pistol and said he would kill her if she tried to leave him. He then made her disrobe and struck her legs with a baseball bat, hit her with a belt, and knocked her unconscious after hitting her in the head with the pistol, according to the affidavit. She also told police that he cut her wrist, tried to drown her in the bathroom of the residence, then threw her on a piece of carpet and told her that “this is where you are going to die,†according to the affidavit. He later locked her in a closet for “a couple hours,†then released her and demanded she lie in bed with him, she said. When he fell asleep, she escaped to a neighbor’s house, according to the affidavit. Patterson was hospitalized for several contusions and “other injuries,†according to the affidavit. Womack’s attorney, Mark Jesse of Little Rock, said he felt confident that Patterson’s story would change. The facts in domestic abuse cases are “often subject to significant change†between when they are reported and when defendants appear in court, Jesse said. Womack was a star running back for SMU between 1993 and 1997, Jesse said. Womack led the Mustangs to wins over the Arkansas Razorbacks in 1995, 1996, and 1997. That included a 212-yard performance in 1997, when SMU beat Arkansas 31-9. Womack was also a graduate of Pulaski Academy in 1993.
Did this guy actually graduate? In what?
Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
If true, that is the most chicken sh*t thing I have ever heard. Very sad. He deserves to rot in the clink.
He is innocent until proven guilty when he enters the court room. If that were the case now he would not be in jail trying to find $250,000.00 bail.
Bail has nothing to do with guilt or innocence. It has to do with whether you've got a stake in showing up for trial or not, or whether you are considered a flight risk. The guy is looking at a possible 25 years, he apparently has few ties to the community, the girl may be the judge's first cousin for all we know, so bail is relatively high.
Those aren't your garden variety accusations. If she was accusing him of slapping, pushing, threatening etc. I would give him the benifit of doubt, but when you are accused of pistol whipping, baseball bat hitting, beating with a belt, kidnapping, and wrist cutting, you end up with a $250,000 bail. I'm sure the neighbors account of her condition when she showed up in the middle of the night probably didn't help. Lock his [deleted] up.
\ Of course bail has to do with guilt or innocence. If you are innocent before proven guilty there is no flight risk because you are innocent. Go anywhere you wish for as long as you wish. The guilt and innocence begins with the judge's gavel.
I think we had 3 or 4 RBs out for that game. Didn't we run a fullback most of the game? That was depressing.
I don't know man, I remember that being the best game of the year!
