MWC team to be homeless?

This is a few years out, but there is a real chance the Aztecs will be homeless if the Chargers can't get a stadium deal done in the San Diego area. There is no way the city keeps Qualcomm intact for SDSU. The Chargers are talking about putting a new stadium in Oceanside which is basically closer to Orange County than to downtown San Diego (think Melissa, Frisco, Allen, etc. to downtown Dallas), so that would suck to have to play your home games a 45 minute drive from your campus. Whatever happens, the options don't look appealing.

“It's extremely important to the campus in general and the athletic program in particular,” SDSU President Stephen Weber said about the stadium search. “Without a viable stadium to play, we can't maintain a Division I football program and we can't compete in the Mountain West Conference.”

I don't think it would be the end of the world for them. Now, if CSUSD is looking for a reason to unload DI football, that's another story all together.
