There was a very interesting documentary on last night about Jerry LeVias, his life, and his time at SMU. I'd heard stories about how tough it was for him during his days on the hilltop, but it was different hearing him and Haydn Frye telling them. What an incredible man!

I tried to post this last night, but I guess the board was having "issues". The documentary was very well done. Its too bad that he couldn't enjoy his time on the Hilltop while he was a student. The film illuminates the essence of his character. Too bad the rest of the students at the time didn't take the time to get to know him better. I think their prejudice at the time blinded them and prevented them from getting to know a wonderful person.

it is a 2003 production. The biggest problem with the production is the lack of video archives to support the script. Note that while talking about SMU winning the SWC in 1966 they show Fry accepting the 1968 Bluebonnet Bowl Trophy. They also would be discussing great plays and games in 1966 and show highlites from 1967 and even 1968. The little footage from 1966-1968 is played over and over. However nice shots of LeVias' TD grab against TCU and parts of the return against Baylor.
