Specific Observation Questions #1...

...for whomever is watching practice.

Is there any life in these players such that they are noticed?
1) TE - Austin Michelsen (TTech)
2) LB - K.J. Ellis (TTech)
3) LB - Dan Garcy (Arizona)
4) LB - Chase Kennemer (A&M)

First three are Xfers, and I do not know status.
Last one should be in rotation, as his Xfer year was last year.

Current DT/DEs who are listed in spring roster but haven't been commented on yet:
Adrian Dizer - ?
Brad Lankford - ? Was OLine?
Kyle Griffin - ?

It appears we have 6 candidates for 2 DTs and as many for DEs, mostly young, but by the numbers, that's where we are. Of those discussed in previous threads, these guys are missing (passing reference to Adrian Dizer notwithstanding). What's the scoop on this bunch?

Current LBs I am curious about:
We appear to have 11 or so LBs, split roughly 4 Srs, 2Jrs, & 5 RSFr.
(this includes Kennemer, which I dunno if I should or not).
The ones missing comments thusfar are as follows:
Sowe
Strodtman
Bon
Anybody see or hear anything on these guys?

BTW, I could be leaving somebody important out. I copied the Roster into excel and parsed the information such that I could cull the walkons and unknowns. I could have erred, and there are other guys in the mix that I just missed. However, this is what I have now.

Thx.

on Kennemer - first the spring roster is wrong on a couple of things. 1. He weighs 227 right now, not the 215 listed. 2. He will be a sophmore eligibilty wise next season. They list him as a Junior and that is wrong.

He is a linebacker - playing weakside right now. Middle is his best positon, but they have him at weak side becasue of his speed, and you already have a good returning middle. I do know that he maxed out on the bench at 420 in pre-spring practice testing. If he's given a real shot, he'll be a player for SMU. I've also heard that he is one of (if not the fastest) linebacker on the team.

Was this guy a walk-on at A&M ?

Yeah a walk on who transferred. He would be undersized to play middle linebacker as he is only about 5'11 and is not built like a Zach Thomas type player. He may be able to get some rotation in as a second string linebacker much like Bonilla does. But I would only expect him to be a special teams player, if anything for now.

he's 6'0" and is indeed an undersized middle linebacker not sure what Zach Thomas weighed as a sophmore at Tech. They are similar in the way the play. Chase will be a good one for you if he's given the chance.

Interesting, I just looked up Zach Thomas' pro page. He's 5'11" 228lbs.

One inch shorter than Chase and one pound heavier as a pro.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kennemer saw extensive action within a year or two. He was a quality high school player and MVP from one of the State's best Districts. Kid got some looks out of high school. Think he probably turned down some other opportunities based on his family Aggie connections. Right Maroon? He is not your average walk-on. Isn't he on scholarship at SMU?
