"Everybody's excited," Martin said. "We feel it's a different chemistry going on. Everybody is still young, but our attitude is win from now on. All the older guys, that weren't in Coach Bennett's [first] recruiting class, left and it's a different attitude. Everybody's getting along more than last year."
this is what all of us PB guys have been trying to say... all he needed to do was get rid of the weak links... great article...

Bennet's first class was 2002, which were the redshirt Seniors. Although I am not sure if all the guys from that class were his guys or were previous commits to Cavan that PB honored. I certainly like to think of Rogers, Kennedy, Carrington, Johnson etc as PB's guys. My point is that last season he should have had essentially all his recruits. The previous season he had mostly his players because of the severe attrition of our 2001 recruiting class. There were at most a handful of Cavan guys on that team, the three of which I remember most of the top of my head being 'Boof, Big Don and DD Lee. So in my opinion this will be Phil's 3rd season with a team full of his players so really there shouldn't have been too many weak links to weed out. Hopefully this season we finally take the next step into a bowl game.

Not trying to be argumentative, but it is more important to me how Martin and the other players view the situation than you. If they feel there is a better attitude among the players and everyone is getting along much better, that is all that counts.
GO PONIES

No, good comment on your part. I think its a great sign that D-Mart is pumped and has an optomistic outlook for the season. Heck, a big part of winning is expecting to win and knowing that you can. Seems like he really believes which is fantastic news.
My post was in regards to the fact that last season we didn't have players who weren't from Bennett's first recruiting class, so DeMyron's comments could have been the same for last season too. The season before easily over 80% of the players were PB's guys too. So I just don't know how big of a problem "weeding out the weak links" has been the past 2 years, while it was prolly a rather big problem Bennett's first 3 seasons.

I remember hearing similar quotes last year about how all of the weak links were gone. I just hope that DeMyron comes to play this year.

you heard similar quotes like this last year... and you saw better results last year... hopefully this chemistry will translate to more wins again this year..

and the difference is this year we are coming knowing who will play QB/WR/RB (who have all proven that they can make big time plays)... i think it is fairly safe to say that laast year was the best "team" chemistry we've had in a while on offense... and it will only get better as these guys continue to grow and mature together

My 29 year old daughter graduated from TT so there is at least one Tech girl that is still pure to this day.
