What Did SMU do to NTSU?

As a long time reader, first time poster, I guess my first would have to be a nagging question that goes all the way back to last September. NTSU seems to view games with us as a rivalry despite the somewhat one sided record, and I keep reading and hearing that we "stiffed" them and kept them out of joining a better conference.

So my question is, what did SMU "do" to upset all those JUCOers in Denton?

They claim that President Turner did everything in his power (successfully, I might add) to prevent them from joining CUSA, whilst us taking thier spot.

Much To Do About Nothing!

It was never a real possibility and we didn't need to make a case either way. Tulsa, Rice and UTEP were better options for CUSA, along with us.

Your statement about Rice's bowl history was not true at the time of the Conference realignment...hadn't they last appeared sometimes in the 60s?

Tulsa, Rice, UTEP, and NTSU didn't receive the death penalty and subsequently shoot their own feet off in the worst athletic department decision making in the history of collegiate athletics. That is the reason why we haven't been to a bowl game in 23 years.

Those paranoid delusionaries think that SMU blackballed them from the SWC, the WAC and C-USA. The flaw in their argument, which none will acknowledge, is that they could not make it on their own merits. Actually, that may be the only truth in their argument, come to think of it.

And really, how does somebody who is not yet in a conference blackball another team that is also not in the conference? Makes no sense.

NTSU for SMU is like:

the Texas Tech to Texas A&M (UT)
the Texas A&M to Texas (OU)
the Cincinatti to Ohio State (Michigan),
etc.

We gain NOTHING by beating them, and amass total embarassment for losing to them.

Actually, the question was, and still is, DID WE GAIN ANYTHING BY PLAYING THEM?

The answer is "NO!"

Well I knew already that we gain absolutely nothing from them, except embarassment for losing. Just wondering what they thought we did to "wrong" them. But last years road trip to Denton was the worst. I mean to have to actually walk around that place and look at the buildings and their students? That's cruel and unusal punishment.
