For what it's worth, CBS put out its outlook for this coming football season. Pretty much oozing with offseason optimism, but it's something new and fun to read.

I can't agree with this more:

SMU appears to be in better overall shape -- with more talent, depth and experience -- than it has been in years. If that doesn't lead to a winning season and a bowl, sixth-year coach Phil Bennett will likely be out as head coach.

I might or might not agree with the decision (it depends on how the season plays out), but if we don't make a bowl, I don't see any way Phil is here in 2008.

Man, I REALLY LIKED that CBS sports line SMU Roster. It shows Adrian Haywood, Justin Rodgers, and Brandon Bonds all as Juniors ! It also says Sturdivant is still a junior. AND guess what ???.....Even D.D. Lee and Alvin Nnabuife are listed on the roster and may also be back on the team for another Senior year and thats just on defense !! Of course, Bobby Chase and Oklahoma City Arena Football QB Jered Romo are listed on the Roster too.We may be the only team in America to have 70 returning present and past starters!! We certainly shouldn't have many depth problems and thats good.

LB Reggie Carrington -- Carrington responded to news that he had been granted an extra year of eligibility in 2008 by making the most of his spring.

this pleases me, the kid was a monster last year. glad to see him stay a little longer to maintain that MLB pillar spot
