Got a call this morning from our old friend Big10PonyFan, who said he had read the following in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

"Defensive tackle to transfer

Gophers defensive tackle Serge Elizee has left the football program and will transfer to another school after spending only one semester at Minnesota.... Elizee said he thought he was going to be admitted to the Carlson School of Management when he arrived at Minnesota in January after spending two seasons at the College of the Sequoias in California. However, he did not get accepted, and he said he likely will transfer to SMU. The new coaching staff has granted him his release...."

Thanks for the top, Big10PF.

The question is whether because he is JUCO, the release from Minn allows him to play this year, or does he have to wait?

I would assume that IF he transfers here, he would have to sit out for a year.

Did we not very actively pursue this young man? This would be great news.

Does he still have three years to play two or does his time at Minn. screw that up?

My understanding that if Minn releases him he can play immediatly.

I think from now on everyone who posts about their understanding needs to go ahead and disclose how they arrived at their understanding.

Very good Nacho. I derived my understanding that everyone needs to state the basis of their understandings by virtue of the fact that I often cannot understand the basis of various understandings stated on here in the absence of a stated basis.

He had 3 to play 2 so even if he has to redshirt we could get 2 years out of him.
