I have not seen anything regarding our players and whether they have signed as free agents yet. Maybe the DMN has something in a blog that I just haven't seen yet, but for comparison's sake I give you Houston Chronicle UH beat writer Michael Murphy.

Yesterday, 2nd day of the draft, at 6:30pm he posted where 5 UH players had signed.
http://blogs.chron.com/cougars/2007/04/ ... right.html

At 8:30pm yesterday he updated it to all 7 players who had signed.
http://blogs.chron.com/cougars/2007/04/ ... dates.html

That is a mere few hours after the draft. And how did he get this information? He called each player individually, all of whom I might add he had a personal and working relationship with from covering the team, to find out where they had signed. Does SMU get coverage like this from the DMN? I would have to say generally, no. And no I am not comparing us to UT or A&M here. I am comparing us to UH who shares their citry with just as many if not more UT and A&M alums in addition to another D1a program, Rice. Again maybe I missed it, but SMU does not have coverage like this from the DMN usually.

I have to believe that Chase, Haywood and Kennedy will sign as free agents. Maybe Sturdivant. I guess we have to wait for the covered wagon to get in before we know.

I heard B Chase signed a one year deal with the Montreal Alouettes. Is this true?

Yes, Bobby signed with the Alouettes. A team that includes Kliff Kingsbury, by the way.

Thanks Ponyboy.

Yes, Bobby first Practice with Montreal Alouettes is May 31. We all Love Justin and happy for him. Bobby and Justin are good friends and roommates. It really is something they both will be traveling North. I know that they will do good. By the way the Mustangs do have a good team for the 2007 season.

Great for Haywood. We are going to miss him as well as Justin terribly on the DL. Hope that Sturdivant and Kennedy get a look somewhere too.

As a life-long Titans/Oilers fan, I think this is a great signing!

I would expect that Haywood could get some PT this year, assuming he makes the team. DT is not the Titans' strong suit. Especially if Fat Albert gets back to his head-stomping ways this year. Playing with Robaire Smith could help Haywood's game quite a bit.

Glad I am not a NFL GM. I would have missed badly on Kliff Kingsbury....and Charles Rogers, Mike Williams etc.........

Give him a while, and I'm sure Matt Millen will sign - and miss on - Kingsbury, just like he did Rogers and Williams.

The word going around with Haywood is that he was considered late round talent and was being talked to a lot by the Bears, but coming off of a shoulder injury it was difficult for him to pass teams physical requirements.

In the last five years (at least), ff there was one guy I was surprised that did not get drafted from SMU, it would be Haywood. I really think he has a chance at the next level.
