Dickerson, James, Russell Carter and Michael Carter all should be in there from that era. I'm not sure if Craig ever made 1st team All- American which is one of the criteria (maybe as a punter?). But I'm pretty sure the other three did.

Anyone who saw Dickerson at SMU and saw Thompson at Indiana knows this is a comical injustice. Thompson was a nice player at IU, but he was no Dickerson.

Micharl Carter is way down the list-so is Russell Carte and Craig James, Michael Carter's best days were in Pro Football. Eric Dickerson playing 45% of the offensive series is a No brainer.

Must be a conspiracy against SMU. We got caught paying players, he played here and recieved a paycheck, so it must not be in "the true spirit of collegiate athletics."

Look how long it took them to add Jerry LeVias. These guys move at a glacieral pace. But I suspect some voters will not vote for any Mustangs on the death penalty era teams. I thought Michael Carter made All American in both football and track (but I couldn't find any reference to SMU football All Americans on the SMU sports website and my memory is fuzzy). That sort of feat usually gets you into halls of fame. But Dickerson clearly belongs for his on the field feats. Second in Heisman voting, set rushing records at SMU, NFL Hall of Famer. He merits inclusion.

He merits the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame too, but they say he won't agree to come to the induction banquet.

Yeah. That's why I am not in the Arkansas Hall of Fame.
If that is a real reason for him not being inducted, then the organization is a sham. I doubt that any of the requirements for gaining entry mention being present to win.

So while I will agree that his best days are in the Pro's, let us just acknowledge the greatness of Michael Carter. A multi time super bowl champion, as well as Olympic medalist in the Shot Put. Heck I doubt his High School national record will be broken in my lifetime. Michael Carter is probably the best big man athlete to ever come out of the state of Texas, maybe the nation.

I guess that would be Dickerson's problem. Evidently he's been asked.

I went to the website and it does clearly state that inductees must attend to be inducted. That is the most ridiculous requirement for a HOF induction I have ever heard. Sounds like someone has an ego that needs continual stroking. I would think achievements on the field of play would be enough with possibly some credance given to off field character (that is a matter for debate). But to require attendance to a dinner is just not right. Yes I realize they want their event to be a gala affair with all the glitz and glamour they feel it deserves, but personally I do not think that the requirement is right.
