Day 1 for Justin

In the patriots.com recap of rookie minicamp Day 1, Justin Rogers apparently looked decent:
- Justin Rogers played defensive end at SMU but looked good in space during his first day at linebacker. Rogers appears to have the physical skills that are needed to make a successful transition to outside linebacker.
Hope it all works out.
The Patriots issued Rogers number 51 which is a legitimate LB number so they must think he has some decent potential.

He'd look better with a number in the 90s.
Too bad they're (reportedly) going to re-sign Junior Seau. Great player (duh), but that's one more guy you know is going to make the team.
Thanks for the update, DFFH. Keep us posted!

Not true. Any baseball player wearing a jersey number above 70 during March and April means your [deleted] is outta here. Most of the time at least.

I'm not sure, but I think Justin Rogers plays football. I may be wrong.

Didn't they just give Audalius Thomas No. 96? I'm guessing he's safe.

Justin Rogers: No: (51): Ht: 6-4 Wt: 250 Acq: Draft 6th round -- Always in the middle of things, yet not making any particularly exceptional moves to stand out. Ironically, his number 51 (Don Davis' old jersey) was whom I thought of when I saw him out there. He's built well, and moves well side to side. Not sure how fast he is though. His scouting report indicates he has the quickness to play on the other side of the line, something the Patriots desperately need from their linebackers. There's something about Rogers… something that gives you the impression the kid is willing to put in the work to make it happen.

VERY NICE (that last sentence). Where did you find that?
Maybe he'll become the next Mike Vrabel, and we'll see him catch a touchdown in the Super Bowl!

He can do the Deerfield, which is a couple of hours east of Boston. He can fish for Stripers in the salt if he likes that kind of thing.
Here's info on the Deerfield:

I was on the east coast last week and caught a 6-pound striper .... those things fight hard for their size! (Of course, as a good Texan, he might find the ocean water rather frigid ....)
Anyone order a Patriots #51 jersey yet?

Good to hear things are going well already. I really enjoyed watching him play during his time at SMU.
