Not sure if anyone has seen this but I stumbled across it. Only reason I am a little wary is it has us playing a home and home with Texas A&M. They'd really leave Kyle Field to come play at Ford?

2008

9-13 Texas Tech
9-20 TCU
10-25 @ Navy
TBA @ Arkansas State

2009

9-26 @ TCU
9-19 @ Texas Tech
10-31 Navy

2010

9-4 Texas Tech
9-11 TCU
2011

9-10 Baylor
TBA @ Texas A&M

2012

9-8 @ Baylor
TBA Texas A&M

And yes the Texas A&M deal was announced a couple years ago - it is official.

watch Texas A&M pay an exit fee and schedule the Citadel at home instead. I'm leary about how that SMU home game was scheduled on the back end of the series though. But overall I like the series tentatively scheduled in coming years. Again fight for relevance-beating Whatsamatter U will engendered a collective yawn. If you don't want SMU to be irrelevant we have got to play a representative schedule-and we've got to put a team on the field that can compete and even beat at least the Baylors of the world which we have not done in 20 years.

Wouldn't A&M like to play in Dallas every once in awhile as a "gift"
to all the Dallas Aggie Alumni base and Dallas Aggie supporters?

Plus it couldn't hurt recruiting to show recruits how
even away stadiums will "turn out for the Aggies".

And wouldn't A&M demand (and SMU would agree)
to play the game at the new Jerry Jones stadium
which will be "the stadium" to be seen playing in?

We've argued it forever, but our ooc schedule should include BCS teams that we can beat yet still say we beat BCS teams

For instance:
Illinois
Miss. State
Syracuse
Indiana
Ole Miss

Play TCU, N Texas, and one of above teams every year. Add Baylor, Kansas or Iowa State, and there's your schedule

The rumor (and most likely completely unfounded) was that we were to play Missouri in 2008 and Texas in 2009. And since Missouri is listed on the Ponyfans schedule, I guess just Texas to wonder about. Again completely unfounded, just the word from friends on campus.

The aggie "series" was a one-game series (at aTm) 2 years ago to replace the Florida State game (aggie bought us for one), and a 2-game home and home

I have been saying this for over two years. While there is a chance that A&M plays SMU at Jerry-world or the Cotton Bowl, there is no way A&M ever sets foot in Ford Stadium. Odds are Copeland knew this going in. Say what you want about SHSU and Arkie State, at least we weren't whoring ourselves out.

My votes

Get A&M a semi-annual game in Dallas, Jerry's World works for me

Baylor as a regular with us (goal: beating a Big XII team "regularly")

Illinois, home and home: Zook loves recruiting and probably thinks he can in Texas. Besides, Champaign is 3 hours from Chicago. (Plan B = Northwestern)

Navy, because it is likely to be televised and both schools spell "tradition"

We need a BCS type of OOC schedule, if we want to be a player, e.g. Orsini's Top 25 Team Goal.

I don't think A&M will do that. As much flak as they are getting from their alums about not playing a game up here may cause them to keep the series. It could shift over to Jerry World. The only two ways they get out of the game is if they find a substitute and play the game up here or just talk with another Big 12 team to move the game to Jerry World.

Until that happens, they'll keep the current schedule. But allow for the fact that if Fran gets fired, the new coach could change the schedule around.

Was that the game when we started that great tradition of setting the grass in our South Endzone on fire with fireworks? Only at SMU!

On the NCAABBS CUSA board they have a thread about the best College football entrances, with lots of videos of various teams running out onto the field to a certain tradition. Clemson's touching of the rock and running down the hill. Tennessee's running of the T. South Carolina coming out to the theme of "2001: A Space Odyssey". I was surprised our Setting the Grass on Fire tradition was not on there.

Go Ponies!

Totally unfounded word of mouth gossip. Friends in the dorm, at parties, talking SMU football with people. Absolutely nothing credible, concrete, or reliable. Just word of mouth from students.

Another opportunity for Steve Orsini, use his ND connections and bring the Fighting Irish to Jerry' World for a battle of the Catholics Vs Protestants
