Tumpkin Selected For 2007 NCAA Expert Coaches Academy

INDIANAPOLIS (NCAA/SMU) - SMU linebackers coach Joe Tumpkin is among 26 football coaches selected for the 2007 NCAA Expert Coaches Academy, which takes place May 31-June 2 at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami, Fla., the NCAA announced this week.

Tumpkin, who is entering his third season on the SMU football staff, assisted in the direction of an SMU defense that led C-USA and ranked 24th in the nation against the run in 2006.

The mission of the Expert Coaches Academy is to assist the coaches with career advancement, networking and exposure opportunities, and to raise awareness regarding the substantial pool of talented and qualified coaching candidates.

He spends a lot of time working. He can NOT play golf worth a flip but is a great guy to talk with.
