Lindys top QBs

Postby ponyfan84 » Wed May 30, 2007 3:00 pm

So I got this list off another website, not sure of the direct source, but look who is #24!

1. Colt Brennen, Hawaii
2. Brian Brohm, L'ville
3. JD Booty, USC
4. Colt McCoy, Tex
5. Pat White, WVU
6. Chad Henne, Mich
7. Matt Ryan, BC
8. Erik Ainge, Tenn
9. Andre Woodson, Kentucky
10. Tim Tebow, Fla
11. Chase Daniel, Mizzou
12. Matt Grothe, South Fla
13. Stephen McGee, A&M
14. Brian Johnson, Utah
15. Rudy Carpenter, ASU
16. Paul Smith, Tulsa
17. Curtis Painter, Purdue
18. Bobby Reid, Ok St
19. Riley Skinner, Wake
20. Nate Longshore, Cal
21. Josh Freeman, K-State
22. Brandon Cox, Auburn
23. JP Wilson, Bama
24. Justin Willis, SMU
25. Juice Williams, Illinois

Colt Brennan being that high may be an overstatement, but Lindy is a college football guru who produces excellent preview magazines every summer on the upcoming year. The fact that J Willis was even mentioned in the same list as these guys is awesome recognition for the player and our school.

Sorry if this has been posted already.

Edit: Note 7 of the QBs were freshmen last year (McCoy, Tebow, Grothe, Skinner, Freeman, Willis, and Williams). These guys are poised for breakout years and if they all stay for 4 years, the 2009 season is going to be special. Also important to know, there are almost 120 teams that play D1 ball, so for Willis to be in the top 25 really shows his talent.

Colt McCoy is just as overrated, if not moreso. Colt Brennan, on the other hand, is an absolute stud .... although I'd have to say Brohm is the best returning QB among those I've seen.

I guess if you're looking at college stats, then yea, Brennan is that good, but if this were a list of top QBs to go pro, he'd be off it. Brennan, like Chang and all the other Hawaii QBs under June Jones are just products of his system and never materialize into anything.

Had he left college early, there were some projecting Brennan in the second - or maybe late in the first - round. Timmy Chang barely had a free agent tryout. Both very productive in college, but as pro prospects, Brennan is lightyears ahead of his Hawaii predecessors.

i agree mostly with the top 5, could use some shuffling. but 7-25 seems to be a mess, some don't belong on that list. paul smith is just one of them
