WAC downsizing?

From collegefootballnews.com:

With all the talk of ACC expansion, the Mountain West Conference has quietly put together a case for adding a ninth or, possibly, a tenth school. The Mountain West is reportedly going after Fresno State, but Hawaii is also a consideration. Hawaii, however, has concerns about travel, which puts Fresno State in the spotlight.

All the ACC expansion talk has been interesting, and might have far-flung ramifications, but this idea hits a little closer to home.

Good luck to all the western WAC schools. I have seen where Fresno, Hawaii, Boise and Nevada may all go to the MWC. The one problem is that BYU by some sccounts is adamantly opposed to admitting Fresno. We'll see.

The scenarios are almost endless. We could wind up with a WAC 10, 12 or 14. No WAC. A WAC split in half. Until the dust settles in the ACC/BE it's all speculation until schools start moving into different alignments.

I might be a little removed from the whole situation, but wouldn't this potentially cripple the league beyond repair? The WAC would have to add new teams, and quickly. Who could be considered? North Texas? Houston? Tulane? Oral Roberts? La-Lafayette?a
