I know this football promotional campaign was pretty unique when it was introduced to drum up support for the '68 season. Is this attributed to Hayden Fry exclusively? I know he was an innovator and a motivator but I was wondering if this was initiated and handled "in house" or if an agency was involved. I remember the billboards and some of the print material but don't recall any TV promos. With Chuck Hixson at the helm, they made good on the slogan... it was definitely exciting.

Yes it was. That was my senior year at SMU. Made a few road trips that year.

I sold programs at the Cotton Bowl as an 11 year old that year and got into the games free. It's what got many of us hooked on SMU. By the way we got a dime profit for each program...

I remember before the season with no experience sophomore Chuck Hixson starting at QB, the joke was Excitement 68 SMU 0.

That's it! Thanks PK. Looking forward to the "unveiling" of the 2007 campaign.

When was the last time anyone saw a "Support SMU Football: Sponsor a Player" bumper sticker?

You're welcome, but it was bubba pony that found the picture...I just helped him post it.
