We are looking for a place to give the little guys a place to play that is "Big Time" and have a slate of games played at someplace cool like Texas Stadium or the Cotton Bowl. We have a new Football Board in place and being on the Board I suggested the SMU facility as it is in a nicer neighborhood than the Cotton Bowl. We can pay to play so money is not a big issue but I was wondering if SMU does this. I figure we can get a nice day in October when SMU is on the road.

Yes, I think so.

Heard some noise in GJF when I was leaving a soccer game last year, and they had a group of kids playing -- lights on, PA announcer calling out names, the whole works. Looked like they were about 10 or so. Had to be a great experience for the kids.

Be sure the kids know there is no beer sold in the stadium.

Will they also open the boulevard for youth games?

Can you schedule it on a bye week when the Ponies will be in town? That way Bennett can swing by and get some coaching tips.

Yes...As I recall, SMU Athletics would rent the stadium out to Spring Valley Football Association (and others) on a Saturday and Sunday when SMU was out of town...It included tickets to a game and was reasonably priced...I'm not sure who you would call over there now...The person who sold those packages moved to greener pastures a few years back...I would imagine Steve and the new group would jump all over this...This was something that wasn't done with great frequency, but is a good way to get bodies in the stadium and interest in the program...

War Memorial Stadium here is Little Rock where the Razorbacks play when they come to town, rents the stadium out for birthday parties. Young kids invite a slew of friends and they play a game on the "big boys" field and then retire to the concession area for refreshments. I believe there are even officials provided. It is not very expensive at all and adds to revenue from what would normally be a dead time. If I recall, older "kids" can have a touch game and supply their own kegs for refreshments. Do not know if that could be done at our place or not.
