http://preseason.stassen.com/consensus/2007.html#cusa

It's a collection of 7 different rankings and how they predicted all 119 teams to finish in their respective conferences.

Based on historical results, has this "stassen" report been accurate?

I am a little shocked there is such a consensus that UH will finish first. Seems like Cougar High lost some of the nucleus to graduation.

I hope the "stassen" report can be proven wrong by the Mustangs.

UH easily has the most talent in CUSA West -its simply a matter of finding a QB. They have home run threats at two receiver spots and at RB, they are returning about 8 defensive starters, and they are mixing in about 7 BCS transfers all of which were highly rated out of high school, Note also SMU plays its 3 toughest conference opponents on the road-Houston, Tulsa and Southern Miss. Pretty tough to predict SMU wins even one of those games much less at least 2 we would probably need for a conference Championship.

UH is the clear favorite in the West in my opinion. I am surprised at how we are so consistently rated at #3 in the West. You would think someone would go out on a limb and pick us finishing 2 or bringing up the rear.

If they had any balls they would pick us as #1 in the west... :D

houston's guys are all a step faster then SMU guy's... it's suprising they haven't had better seasons. out of the three games you listed, I would say Tulsa is the game we have the best chance of winning, just because we match up against them well (unless they change their offense this year).

Perhaps they've found their QB in Okie State transfer Al Pena who received a waiver from the NCAA that will allow him to play football at Houston this fall.

Pena graduated from Oklahoma State in May but had a year of eligibility left. He had planned to take advantage of a rule that allows graduating seniors to transfer without having to sit out a year, but the NCAA rescinded the rule in January. Pena needed a waiver.

"We thought it was a good case. We welcome him and we are glad to have him in the program," Houston athletic director Dave Maggard told television station KRIV.

Pena was a backup last season, but did not play. In 2005, he completed 89 of 179 passes for 1,102 yards in seven games with eight touchdown passes.

Now, I find that interesting. You are taking "in" knowledge...sound like you might have at least a 21 IQ, maybe you aren't an idiot.

It seems you may now qualify as merely an imbecile.

IQ Range Classification
70-80 = Borderline deficiency
50-69 = Moron
20-49 = Imbecile <-- "Sergeant Pepper" (who thinks he is a General)
< 20 = Idiot <-- I though he was just here

Apparently, to my surprise, he is capable of learning. So, I bumped him up one notch. I could still be wrong.

Inching a little too close for comfort on this one, Phire. I have one whose gonna have some issues in that department, at least according to the neurologist. I really, really don't like the way this conversation is going, and I'd rather we dispense with the technical manual on intellectual capacity or lack of. You and George C Scott find something else to fight about. Please.

You're just not very good at this. To call you stupid would be an insult to stupid people.

weren't we saying the same thing about UTEP a year ago? Or the year before that?

I don't think so. I thought UH had the best talent last year. SMU lost on the road to UTEP anyway. The team that I think has a lot of holes is Tulsa as expony18 said. They are rebuilding but I have a lot of respect for what Graham did last year at Rice so I give Tulsa the toss-up at home. I don't see SMU beating Southern Miss or UH on the road. I think all SMU road games are going to be difficult including Arkansas St. and Memphis who most are counting as sure wins.
