Some good SMU gear shopping

While out doing the Wedding Gift shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond, WOW was I surprised.

I purchased a set of SMU highball glasses ( really insulated plastic )

They had beer mugs, double highball and other glass sizes. The SMU things were given good shelf space next to the usual A&M, TTech, Texas and some Tcu and Armed Service schools.

Cool Right.

I turn around and there is a great SMU metal trash can for only 17 dollars.

As we had the gift boxed and wrapped I saw a set of wood head covers hanging on the wall along with some Texas ones.

This stuff ain't cheap but go get you some SMU stuff for tailgating!!!
GSS

How are those electric bills?

Last time I was in a Bed Bath and Beyond in Dallas all I could spot were a couple kinds of glasses. Nice to see a little more...maybe the rest is being kept in the Way Beyond section.

Maybe they are finally pulling out inventory they have had since the Pony Express days. I got some really nice SMU gear at the Dillard's outlet store in Arlington a few years back (egads, it was probably 1992). And some SMU hats they had on closeout at the North Richland Hills Academy store back around the same time.

I challenge anyone on this board to go to the Academy store at Forest Lane and Central Expressway and find anything with SMU on it. It's laughable to see which schools are represented there but not the one that's the closest to them geographically.

Why would they want to stock something that won't well for lack of demand?

You're absolutely right.

So...is there a big demand in that part of Dallas for shirts with USC, Michigan, Oregon or Abilene Christian University (I am not kidding!) on them? Heck, I understand the 'supply-and-demand' theory. But there's not ONE SINGLE ITEM for sale there with SMU on it. Seriously.

Hey, Orsini...if you're reading this site, here's a place to start your campaign to sell more SMU-related gear.

All winners. SMU is not. Dallas loves a winner. ACU is ranked in the preseason Top 25 in D-2 football. SMU would be too if they had dropped down a division or two 10 years ago when they should have.

yeah sure JTstang.....
there is a bigger demand for "Abilene Christian" items on
Central Expressway in Dallas, Texas than there is for SMU items.

first off acu is a colt so that is an artificial demand.
second acu excels on taking D1 transfers, ex:

Danieal Manning transferred from the University of Nebraska to ACU after low test scores, now starts for the Chicago Bears.

Colby Freeman Texas A&M QB (brother of Kirby freeman "The U")

Rahon Mayles Indiana RB

the list goes on and on of them taking D1 transfers. I've coached high scool football for the last 3 years and not one kid ive coached who was offered/accepted a scholarship to ACU was heavily recruited or recruited at all by SMU.

EDIT: maybe stallion can help out on this but i also think Chance McCoy is planning on going to ACU or is already at ACU (Colt's younger brother)

EDIT 2: Chance is enrolled at ACU class of 2011, not on the football roster though

Go to the bookstore or the spirit shop. You'll find SMU stuff there to your poor heart's content. Skip Academy, because it won't be there.

Supply and demand, big boy, supply and demand.
