SMU gear getting shelf space!

Today I saw a very rare thing.

I have been waiting for years to see what I saw today.

I walked into the Sports Authority store at the
Tollway and Arapaho intending to buy some
nike athletic socks.

As I made my way through the store I was
jolted when I passed the UT/TT/TX A&M
t-shirts and saw low & behold SMU t-shirts
right beside them on a big prominent display rack.

I was in disbelief and utter shock!

As I did a double-take to see if this was just a dream,
I even noticed they had two different SMU shirts!

Of course I had to buy one.

Not sure if this is Team Orsini/Team Sweet but it
sure was a nice surprise to see SMU getting some shelf space
right next to all the other local Texas schools.

:D

I have been in that store a number of times, and I've never seen any SMU stuff before. That must be Orsini and Sweet at work!

Well now we need to get some ponyfans in there to move them.. perhaps create a "need"? Okay.. maybe that's wishful thinking..

There ARE no other local schools!

Next time I'm near that intersection, I'll stop in and support the cause.

There's a Sports Authority closer to SMU at the intersection of Park Lane and Central Expressway (Hwy. 75). I'll check it out tomorrow to see if there are any SMU items there, too. I'll report back.

That's a big negative. Strolled in there at lunch today after seeing this thread. Didn't notice anything. I'll check back later in the week.

The real test will be to see if they can crack Academy.

It would be nice to see some things in the PGA store. They have every other team both college and pro that you can possibly think of, but last time I was there, no SMU.

Come and Take It: You should have asked a customer service agent for assistance. They have 'em at the Park Lane/Central Expressway location, too! I was there at 1:30 p.m. Enter the store and walk past the cash registers. Turn to the left where the men's apparel is located. Go to the back of the section. They're on a hanging rack on one of the aisles. You have to wade thru the U.T., aTm and TT stuff to find 'em.

Two shirts, both Adidas brands. One is grey with SMU lettering and the the Mustang on it. The other is red with MUSTANGS and Southern Methodist University, the school's founding year and Dallas, Texas on it. Here's a picture. The red is a bit lighter than what you see in this photo, though. White lettering. Sizes range from S to XXL (for BIG MEN, BUS! ;) ). I bought one of the XXL's. 100% cotton. Both shirts are priced at $18.00.

They also have SMU caps, two styles. One is red, white and blue with SMU lettering on the crown and MUSTANGS on the back. The other cap is all black with a Mustang on it. I didn't care for either cap, frankly.

But I thanked the store manager for carrying SMU items. He said they've been trying to convince the corporate office of Sports Authority for 2 years to carry SMU items since the school is located in Dallas. He said they finally decided to do so to 'test the market'. I told him I'd post this information on pf.com to let everyone else know that they're carrying SMU items. He said, "The more that people buy 'em, the more we'll carry!" Supply & demand, folks. Supply & demand.

/\ I like that shirt. But it'd look better in blue with red lettering. But then again, I just don't like wearing red all that much.

I believe the discussion has been held on this board before that psychologists have determined that RED is a color that has a negative effect on opponents in sporting contests. Fill Ford Stadium & Moody Coliseum with RED on game days!

True. I'm just saying for my own personal every day attire, I'd prefer blue.
