What a great story. No wonder Comet is my all-time favorite Mustang.
Good lookin' recruit coming in 14 years, too!

Thanks, giafsp (?) and Navy&Crimson -- we appreciate your comments, and we love what we do. Not sure what you had in mind by your "bigger & better" comment, but we hope you're right!

Glad to hear Chris is doing so well in his rehab. I can't wait to see him lead the team back out on the Ford Stadium turf this year!
Keep at it, Comet - we're all pulling for you.!

I thought it was very refreshing to read Coach Bennett's comments that he expects Comet to come back and start, on offense and as the punt returner. All too often, you read comments from coaches (especially those who have never coached the player in question before) who say the guy has to come back and start at the bottom of the ladder, etc. Coach Bennett knows he has a great player, and clearly expects great things.

Terrific job. And the workout pictures are great - he looks intense and ready for the season!

Good luck, Chris.

Now that's the kind of story that has us all itching for the start of the 2003 season. From the day he stepped foot on the Hilltop, Comet has been an emotional leader of this team. I said last year I hoped Chris' injury would turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Another year to work in the classroom and another year for this team and our young QBs to get enough seasoning to possibly turn things around in 2003. One thing is for sure...The Comet has always been a "difference maker" here at SMU.

Comet is also a perfect example of why recruiting top players does matter. As most on this board will remember, he initially verballed to the Aggies and then changed his mind and signed here. He should be used in recruiting to demonstrate to potential Big 12 recruits that you can shine at SMU early in your career. We need more Comets.

From Charleston Pony: "Now that's the kind of story that has us all itching for the start of the 2003 season." Could not agree with you more!

And then there's 93Mustang's understatement: "We need more Comets." We sure do - every team could use players with his talent and his character.

And one more thing: if I'm not mistaken, Comet earned his SMU degree over the weekend. Congratulations, Chris!

Between the promises of the more wide-open SMU offense and the return of Comet, I can't wait for the season to start. I'm going to make a roadie to Lubbock to see his (and the team's) 2003 debut.
