Of those in the "receiving votes" section, I'd say Boston College, Miami, South Carolina, BYU, Oregon and maybe Texas Tech deserve to be in the poll. Drop the last six off the poll and put those in.

No Wake or Mizzou? I think they have decent chances to make waves in their respective conferences. Not sure if Tech deserves a top 25. Too many unknowns like their lines and their inexperience at WR, which I hope we can exploit on national TV.

I would think Mizzou has a better chance of cracking the national rankings — Wake had one of those dream seasons last year, and I can't imagine they'll repeat it, or even come close. They'll go around .500 this year ... maybe. Mizzou might also be just a hair over .500, because of their conference. I don't know what teams they play from the South, but if Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas and Texas Tech are on the schedule, that's six losses right there.

Not sure about that. Chase Daniels is only getting better for them at quarterback. Wouldn't be surprised if they competed for a Division Title. Not sure they're gonna enough to beat the South in the Championship game but I think they can compete to at least get to the championship game.

TCU was #22 last time we played them.

As Yogi Berra said, "It's deja vu all over again!"

I agree with Mustang35, Mizzou will compete for the Big XII North title. Wake Forest may not win the ACC this year, but they have a fairly easy OOC schedule with Army, Navy, and Vanderbilt. Playing Nebraska at home should be tough, but not insurmountable. WF was very inconsistent last year, but I like their chances to be good again this year. We'll see.

I've seen at least 1 publication that has Mizzou winning Big12North...and most have then 2nd or 3rd

I thought Memphis was a dubious pick as well, but they must have some seniority on the team. When SMU knocks of Tech, the 'Stangs should be receiving votes as well.

I like you, Coog. I tell you what, I'm really looking forward to watching Aldridge this next season. Not against us, but against everyone else.

memphis getting one vote would be shocking. getting five preseason votes for ending up 2-10 last season? what a travesty

Hope springs eternal -- and then gets crushed on the hard rocks of reality.

Like how SMU crushed your undefeated season and BCS hopes last time we played?
