I guess that's my question: What do you need to see? I know that 1/2 of them came in one game, but the TEs contributed 20% of the Receiving TD totals in 2006. Kennedy was 4th in Receiving Yardage.
I would say that If, when the dust settles on the 2007 Season, the Tight Ends have again contributed 20% of the Receiving Totals, and Chase is 3rd in Yardage, that would constitute increased usage of the TEs. I also think that the Number of 1st downs should be taken into account (as a % of total FDs) but I don't have those numbers yet.
Though obviously you want the TD totals to be more spread out, and not just coming in a single game. But my opinion is that we should see a high % of TDs and FDs, but a lower overall yardage total out of our Tight Ends. If you expect Chase to be the #2 guy in yards, I don't think its going to happen, and more importantly, I don't think it
should happen in a healthy offense.
