Richard Bartel is #3 on the cowboys depth chart at QB? You've got to be joking....

More like 5th...he's not making the club, as he's not as good as either of the Matt's vying for the 3rd spot

Matt Baker (last year's No. 3 guy) was cut last week.
It's down to Bartel and Matt Moore (undrafted free agent out of Oregon State) for No. 3.

Fair enough...
For what it's worth, I have heard he has been struggling per the DMN blogs

I can't conceive Bartel could beat out Matt Moore, but stranger things have happened. I did hear the other day that Bartel looked better in minicamps, but that Moore has looked better in San Antonio.
I still can't believe the yahoo got booted from the team for fighting at a flag football game.

I think that Jason Garrett is just setting this all up so that he has to suit up by game 13.

I didn't think he got booted, I thought he got suspended and then quit.

He went to Tarleton State University.
I doubt he outplays Matt Moore, who's team beat USC last year

It's kind of weird...normally I'd want a guy that went to SMU to make a pro team, especially my favorite football team. I know I was rooting hard for Keylon to get minutes at halfback last year. But for whatever reason, I don't want Bartel on the Cowboys. Maybe it's becasue I remember how bad he was for us, maybe it's because I like Matt Moore better, but I just don't want him to make the Cowboys.
I'd have no problems with McCown if he was to be the Cowboys 3rd stringer, but Bartel...no thanks

How bad he was for us or how bad we were for him? Buster is in the NFL now maybe sticking on the roster for the Dallas Cowboys. We are still an unsuccesfull football program by any measure you want to look at. Looks like he is doing just fine and we are doing just the same.
Best of luck Bartel!

We're doing fine. Don't tell me you're a gloom and doomer now too.

I don't classify myself as gloom or sunshine, merely realistic.
Buster has done more for himself since he and SMU parted ways than SMU has. I guess if he makes the Cowboys and we go to a bowl we will both be in much better situations than we were in 2002.

Now wait a minute. Why is it doom and gloom to point out the truth, that we are not a successful football team, at least as he defines success? What is your definition of success, and what makes it better than anybody else's?
