Or dreading

It is cowbell time!

I am once again seeking donations for the cause. I plan to hand them out for the Tech game and we will see from there.

I would like to get up to 500 bells handed out and please, if you have your bells from last year, bring them!

Anyone interested in throwing in shoot me a PM and I will get you an address to send a check. I am thinking I will hang up a sign that says who contributed (that is if you want to be on the list  ).

Also, as I did last year, Jello shots will be handed out along with the bells.

Not a bad price at all. I am buying them for $17 a dozen at oriental trading then buying stickers and putting them on. Makes for a good excuse to drink.

You need an excuse?

rhjii - got my cowbell from last year on my 'SMU paraphernalia shelf' (think heritage hall... on a small shelf) ... oddly it's right above my bar (think 4 bottles of liquor and some low ball and martini glasses... on a shelf) - I have so many different 'rooms' in my one bedroom apartment. Both shelves are actually located in the 'library', which is buttressed by the dining hall, which in term leads to the media room and office.

Where was I? Yes... I have more cowbell in my mini-Heritage Hall/Shelf.

yeah let's give the Tech fans even more reason to claim Home Field advantage. Tech has only used Cowbells with their SaddleTramps for only about the last 50 years.

Well then lets wear pink and whistle a happy tune. Then we will be set apart. Hopefully even the Tech players are smart enough to know when SMU does something good and the fans cheer and cowbells moo that it is for SMU and not Tech. Now granted, there has not been much to cheer and moo about for a while but just maybe we can do a little something this year. That said, I am not a cowbell guy as rjhiii knows but I contribute to the spirit and support not to the cowbell itself.

That's the spirit. Squash everyone else's ideas, rather than offering up a constructive idea of your own.

Cowbells at SMU-it can't get much more pathetically stupid than that idea. How is that for dumping on this moronic idea.

You must have turned down A LOT this weekend. We are bitter, bitter, bitter. Either that or it's male menopause.

rjhiii just ignore Stallion.
Stallion is almost always negative.
As if Texas Tech invented the cow bell.
Ignore his need to pee on almost any parade.
Next he'll be saying our Blvd sucks, our stadium sucks, and Orsini sucks.
Sometimes I think he must work @ the law firm of "Sourman, Bitterman, and Angrystein"!

No they didn't invent cowbells but they have a 70 year head start on SMU.

The Saddle Tramps - are a spirit organization, formed by Arch Lamb in 1936, that attend all football games. During the football games, the Saddle Tramps will ring bells to show support for the Red Raiders. They form lines along the ramp to the locker room before the football team takes the field. They end the pre-game festivities by forming the Bell Circle. The Bell Circle is a special cheer they do, where the Saddle Tramps ring their cowbells, and at the direction of 2 members in the center will stand up and yell "Go Tech Go!", Fight Tech Fight!" and "Win Tech Win!" The Saddle Tramps also bring Bangin' Berth to each home game, have a secret member be Raider Red and ring the victory bells for 30 minutes after each Tech victory. The Saddle Tramps will also put red and black streamers on the vehicles that enter or exit the Tech campus on the Friday before each home game.

Cowbells belong in West Texas not University Park at a Country Club private school. All 12 of you can bang your Cowbells all Nite long but it will never become an SMU tradition.
