Just dropping by, wanted to know what you guys think about the game this year, and how your team's looking.

Thanks in advance!

Better than we have been. Not as good as we want to be.

We expect a better offense with more experience throughout all positions. We expect a better pass defense from our secondary with experienced and solid athletes. We are concerned about the rush defense and our pass rush. Special teams we expect to be solid. Labor Day will be a good test for our expectations.

SMU will be improved from the last time Tech saw them. Still think the game comes down to the talent/coaching gap that favors Tech. The only way Tech loses this game is if they turn the ball over with consistency, which I don't see happening. 31-21 Tech.

then again, I could be wrong...does Jim Bob Taylor have any eligibility left ?

I don't think you'll agree with me, but I'd like to us beat you guys... ;) now am I going to get on here and say we will win the ball game - no.

I give us one chance in three... and I think this time will be that one.

Season Expectations:

We expect -
- Justin Willis to have a better season than last year.
- DeMyron Martin to return to form and rush for more than a thousand yards.
- both Emmanuel Sanders and Columbus Givens to have monster years.
- to under-utilize our tight end.
- our special steams to be tops in conference, Jessie Henderson to be a top 3 return man nationally, while Morestead breaks Craig James's punting record.
- our defense to... uh ... to be there? (No clue herei.)
- to win at least 7 ball games and go to a bowl for the first time in any of our current players lifetimes.

That's what we expect.... or at least, that's what I expect. (And I would note that I think we will win one of our three "probable loss" games - you guys, TCU, and Southern Miss.... again like I said above... I think it will be you guys... but I am going in to that game knowing that a loss is the most likely scenario.)

At least we won't be having to spit out west Texas dust this year. So, we should be pretty competitive this year. Also, Bennett seems to be the one defensive coach who actually understands Leach's offense and if he has the right tools in place can make Tech have to work a little to score. That's of course the major question, will he have the right players in place.

ttugunsup--we believe smu is better than the last time you played us. we expect to give you a better game, and we know that an smu win would be the upset of the year in college football--by a wide margin. we replace 3 defensive linemen and dl play is a key for us.

you know about willis being our best qb in a while. what do you see as ttu strengths, weaknesses, keys?

Not true. A TCU win over UT would be seen as the greatest upset of the year, bar none. Many see that as TCU battling time in BCS talk. Personally, I hope they beat TCU so our victory will be all the sweeter. :P

A SMU win over Tech would be the greatest upset post-death penalty for SMU and would give us tons of momentum throughout the season.

I disagree strongly with this. Tech is only favored by about 10 points and, although I have Tech winning 37-24, we have a strong chance to pull off the upset.

I disagree, as much as I hate to give TCU any kind of credit, I think our win over them last time around - they were coming off a tremendous upset of Oklahoma in Norman and were ranked in the Top 25 - would still trump this one. However it might be the most important post death penalty upset as it might just set the tone for a great season.

I think we can pull the upset, but the real story would be to go 4-0 non-conference.

It would surely be the rage of sportscenter that night.
