The redshirt freshman broke his leg during the scrimmage yesterday that was for freshmen to work their way into the two-deep depth charts.

I wish him a speedy recovery and rehab.

A fracture fibula isn't the worse thing that can happen. He may be in competition for a travel squad position in about 6 weeks. The fibula isn't a weight bearing bone. A speedy and full recovery can be expected.

This is a real shame. A couple of coaches have said he's been having a very good camp and could contribute this year.

Get better quickly, Kyle.

DeGroat also probably tore something (forgot what)...some people were going around saying he broke both ankles...he didn't...that would be one hell of an injur...ies.

Hope that report isn't accurate.

I hear he tore a ligament in his ankle but I thought I heard something more specific yesterday...anybody know what exactly he tore?

Heard he had surgery with a plate and 13 screws. He will be out for a year.

My son. That's probably about right for that surgery. I had the same thing but with less screws and it took about a year or a little less to totally heal.

DT injury

Ok thanks for the info. I wasn't intending to be rude, but I would just rather not rely on hearsay. That prevents situations like the one before where people were bad-mouthing a new recruit that had reportedly hated SMU and was transferring to UH, and it turned out that he had to take care of some business at home before reporting to campus.

13 screws? Holy crap.
That's a lot. Here's to a full recovery.

I'll defer to our resident pf.com orthopedist, but from the bits and pieces presented here it sounds like a Pott's fracture.
