Nice pub, but I guess I don't share the view that our schedule is "a killer"

we are getting some great national press -- now let's see the ponies deliver this year

i don't know that i would call the schedule a killer per say but it's definitely hard as far as a c-usa schedule goes. tech and tcu are good programs and southern miss will be a hard conf. game

Wonder how much pub we would be getting without Willis at the helm?
Can't wait to see him and the rest of the team out on the field.....what is it, like 18 more days to go till kickoff?

With the exception of playing NTCC at home (and after last season, lets not even call that a given), I have a hard time seeing how this schedule could be much worse for SMU. The conference Schedule is bad. We have the teams we "should beat" at home, but the teams that we are most likely competing with for the west are both Road Games. Add to that a road game against the best of the east and the conference schedule is a real [deleted]. The OOC schedule has two potential top 25 teams (though I see Tech having a really down year this season), and two Sunbelters, one of which is a road game against a team that we absolutely embarrassed last season.

Compare that with last season:

Tulsa and Houston at home, East games against ECU and Marshall, and out of conference games @Tech, and NTCC, with ArkySt and STFU at home.

I believe that the only way this schedule could be worse for us would be if we weren't playing the Sunbelt for two games.

Is that supposed to be SHSU or were you suggesting everyone be quiet at home?

Ahh, nice..... now 44 of 84. Didn't notice the poll. But of course you have to imagine that most of the people interested enough in the article to see the poll are SMU fans.

Now that's funny.

With 100 votes, it's now up to 57% on the USA Today poll predicting the Mustangs will win C-USA.

I have to agree w/ the article's assessment of the schedule - well, maybe its not a "killer" but its A LOT HARDER than last year's schedule. The schedule last year was essentially perfect for gaining a winning season - it just didn't work out.

The Ponies will need to show up every game this year to ensure they build on last year's progress.
