Emmanuel Moody to leave USC

Postby Danny Noonan » Thu Aug 16, 2007 1:15 pm

From the DFW area. Early rumor says Okie State, with TCU having an outside shot.

Too bad, I thought he showed something in the games he played last year.

So, is SMU in the market for a RB?

Some corncob on ESPN just said Moody likely will transfer to a school in Texas. He mentioned that Moody originally committed to UT, and said a repeat commitment to the Horns is unlikely. He did mention Oklahoma State as a darkhorse candidate, but said a Texas school is the likely destination. Didn't mention any school as an odds-on favorite/leader.

His uncle (father figure) just said the same thing to the DMN... as per a Texas school, but probably not Texas.

Is it too early to start a Moody Madness campaign?

I saw this guy play against my Jesuit Rangers a couple years back. he was unreal.

(Note for LF68, I had once incorrectly told you I had seen Sergio Kindle as high school back. It was Moody... I got my then Texas oral commits mixed up.)

I saw Sergio Kindle against Hillcrest High...unreal.

Here's a big IF: If Kindle were to win the Heisman trophy, Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas would be the only public school in the U.S. to have produced 3 Heisman recipients.

Yeah, well unless they move Kindle to the offensive side of the ball (not to mention the police blotter), it's a HUGE if. But yes, Kindle was unreal too.... as far as the video I have seen.

Quote from Moody's uncle in the DMN story:

"We're thinking about maybe closer to home, maybe a Texas school," Chang said, "but we're keeping our options open. We want to make a point that it's an open market right now."

Too bad we don't cheat anymore.

So now that USC has signed off on his release, can college coaches approach him, and sort of re-recruit him? Or does he have to contact a school and say "Coach, I'm interested in your school" .... and THEN let the courtship begin?

He has to contact the school. If anyone here knows him , and just by chance happens to bump into him, you might mention that he could feel free to contact SMU if he would like.

I think we should hang a giant banner in his SC dorm that says "Hey Moody, call 214-SMU-PONY". I think it would be neato even though that's probably not even a real number.

Or how about "Come to the school that named their coliseum after you."
